Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Enterprise Data & Intelligence is responsible for establishing and leading Travere's Enterprise Data & Intelligence function, transforming enterprise data into a trusted strategic asset that enables informed decision-making, operational excellence, and future AI innovation across the organization.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Enterprise Technology & Solutions, this senior leader will define and execute the enterprise vision, multi-year roadmap, investment strategy, and operating model for Enterprise Data & Intelligence. This role will establish enterprise capabilities while fostering strong partnerships across business functions, recognizing that ownership of analytics and reporting will evolve based on the maturity, capabilities, and needs of each organization.

Success in this role requires balancing strategic leadership with deep technical expertise. The Senior Director will remain technically credible, guiding enterprise architecture and modern data platform decisions while building an Enterprise Data & Intelligence organization that initially leverages managed service providers (MSPs) and progressively transitions to internal capabilities over time.

This leader will partner closely with business stakeholders, Digital Innovation & Strategy, AI Strategy & Engineering and enterprise technology leaders to establish the trusted data foundation required to support enterprise reporting, advanced analytics, digital transformation, and future AI initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the enterprise vision, strategy, roadmap, and investment plan for Enterprise Data & Intelligence, ensuring alignment with Travere's business priorities and long-term objectives.
  • Establish and evolve an enterprise operating model that balances centralized data platforms, governance, and standards with business-owned analytics based on organizational maturity, capability, and business need.
  • Partner with business leaders across the enterprise to identify opportunities where trusted data, reporting, and analytics improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and business outcomes.
  • Lead the strategy, architecture, and evolution of the enterprise data platform, ensuring scalable, secure, and governed capabilities that support enterprise reporting, analytics, digital innovation, and AI readiness.
  • Establish a pragmatic, maturity-based approach to enterprise data governance, data quality, stewardship, and information management that enables business agility while protecting enterprise information assets.
  • Build the Enterprise Data & Intelligence function through an MSP-first operating model, providing strategic leadership for managed service providers, technology partners, and the long-term development of internal enterprise capabilities.
  • Partner with the Sr. Dir AI Strategy & Engineering to ensure enterprise data serves as the trusted foundation for AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation through clearly defined ownership, governance, and collaborative ways of working.
  • Maintain executive oversight of the Enterprise Data & Intelligence portfolio, including financial planning, technology investments, vendor management, and enterprise architecture, while serving as the executive champion for enterprise data across Travere.

Leadership Expectations:

The Senior Director is expected to lead beyond technology by establishing Enterprise Data & Intelligence as a strategic business capability that accelerates decision-making and enterprise transformation.

Success in this role requires the ability to:

  • Develop and communicate a compelling vision that positions enterprise data as a strategic business asset and enables long-term organizational success.
  • Influence executives, business leaders, and technical teams through collaboration, credibility, and trusted partnerships.
  • Balance strategic investments with immediate business priorities while delivering measurable business value.
  • Foster strong partnerships that empower business functions while establishing enterprise standards for data, analytics, and governance.
  • Lead organizational transformation by building an Enterprise Data & Intelligence capability that evolves alongside the maturity of the business.
  • Maintain technical credibility through active engagement in enterprise architecture, modern data platforms, analytics technologies, and emerging industry trends.
  • Build an organizational culture centered on innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and measurable business outcomes.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field required. Master's degree or equivalent advanced education preferred. Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of progressive leadership experience in Enterprise Data, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, or a related discipline within the life sciences or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated success developing enterprise data strategies, investment roadmaps, and operating models that align technology capabilities with business objectives.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise data platform implementations utilizing modern cloud technologies and scalable data architectures.
  • Experience building enterprise capabilities through a combination of internal teams, managed service providers, and strategic consulting partners.
  • Demonstrated experience managing enterprise budgets, technology investments, vendor relationships, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Proven ability to influence executive leadership, lead organizational change, and build strong cross-functional partnerships.

Additional Skills/Experience/Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will embody Travere’s core values: Courage, Community Spirit, Patient Focus and Teamwork.
  • Deep understanding of modern cloud data platforms, including Snowflake or comparable technologies.
  • Experience with enterprise data integration, orchestration, and reporting platforms, including Matillion (or equivalent), Tableau and PowerBI (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise data architecture, data modeling, governance, metadata management, master data management, and information lifecycle management.
  • Experience developing enterprise reporting, analytics, and self-service data capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of data security, privacy, regulatory compliance, and governance practices within the life sciences industry.
  • Experience partnering with AI, machine learning, and digital innovation teams to establish trusted enterprise data foundations for advanced analytics and intelligent solutions.
  • Previous line management experience with the ability to effectively manage performance, engage team members, provide coaching, and respond to situations affecting staff.
  • Exceptional executive communication, strategic planning, financial management, negotiation, and vendor leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
  • All positions have an essential job function to be able to perform face to face work with colleagues and/or onsite in San Diego. No role is expected to be 100% remote.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
