Job Description

The Senior Director, Commercial Supply Chain TA Lead will oversee the end-to-end global supply chain operations, ensuring reliable product availability, compliance, and efficiency across the commercial stages.  This role will be responsible for the overall end-to-end supply chain strategy and execution for all products under the given therapeutic areas across the commercial stages.  This role will partner closely with the Executive Director, Head of Regional Commercial Supply Chain to ensure uninterrupted supply of Gilead’s products to regions/markets.

This role requires deep expertise in pharmaceutical supply chains, a strong understanding of the complexities of both biologics and small molecule manufacturing, and a proven track record of operational excellence and leadership in a matrixed, global organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Supply Chain Leadership

  • Develop and execute the global supply chain strategy for the Therapeutics portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives across R&D, manufacturing, commercial, and regulatory functions.

  • Serve as the primary supply chain leader for the TA, providing visibility and guidance from new product introductions through to global commercialization. 

  • Direct a team of Supply Chain Product Leads to drive optimization and efficiency across the end-to-end commercial supply chain.

  • Represent Supply Chain in Supply Review Meetings, Global S&OP, Portfolio Review Committees, and Global Program/Product Teams.

2. Cross-Functional Integration

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement, R&D, Commercial, and CMC teams to deliver on product and business goals.

  • Lead supply chain governance and decision-making for therapeutic assets, including scenario planning and S&OP processes.

3. Operational Execution

  • Lead end-to-end supply chain management including demand forecasting, supply planning, production planning including performance to plan, inventory management, and logistics.

  • Oversee supply chain integration and readiness for new product launches and lifecycle management.

  • Ensure continuity of supply across all markets, with risk management strategies to mitigate supply disruptions.

4. Risk & Performance Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate supply chain risks across the value chain.

  • Monitor KPIs related to supply reliability, lead times, inventory levels, and cost optimization.

5. Leadership & Team Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing global team of supply chain professionals with expertise in commercial operations.

  • Drive a culture of accountability, agility, change management, and continuous improvement.

  • Champion diversity, inclusion, and employee development initiatives.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Life Sciences, Business, or a related field with 14+ years of relevant experience is required.

Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain roles within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with significant exposure to both small molecule and biologics.

  • Proven success in leading global supply chains across development, launch, and commercialization phases.

  • Deep knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, etc.), and product lifecycle management.

  • Experience managing internal and external manufacturing is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic thinker with exceptional operational execution capabilities.

  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills.

  • Excellent communication and executive presence; adept at influencing senior stakeholders.

  • Agile mindset with ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading supply chains for high-complexity therapeutic modalities (e.g., ADCs, biosimilars, orphan drugs).

  • Knowledge of digital supply chain tools (e.g., SAP, Kinaxis, Oracle, advanced analytics platforms).

  • Prior experience in leading through significant growth, transformation, or global expansion.

The salary range for this position is:

Bay Area: $243,100.00 - $314,600.00.


 

Other US Locations: $221,000.00 - $286,000.00.


Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
