Operate and modernize production AWS infrastructure: upgrade Kubernetes, Teleport, Redis, and PostgreSQL; harden security; optimize costs with Karpenter; standardize IaC (Terraform, Lambda, SAM); deprecate unused AWS resources; improve observability (NewRelic) and ensure reliable bastion/DB fallback access.
The summary above was generated by AI

Solvd Inc. is a rapidly growing AI-native consulting and technology services firm delivering enterprise transformation across cloud, data, software engineering, and artificial intelligence. We work with industry-leading organizations to design, build, and operationalize technology solutions that drive measurable business outcomes.

Following the acquisition of Tooploox, a premier AI and product development company, Solvd now offers true end-to-end delivery—from strategic advisory and solution design to custom AI development and enterprise-scale implementation. Our capability centers combine deep technical expertise, proven delivery methodologies, and sector-specific knowledge to address complex business challenges quickly and effectively.

We are looking for an experienced Cloud / DevOps Engineer to join an ongoing infrastructure modernization engagement. You'll be working across a production AWS environment — upgrading core infrastructure components, hardening security, reducing cloud spend, and cleaning up accumulated technical debt. The work is hands-on and spans Kubernetes, databases, observability, and IaC.

This is a great fit if you're comfortable operating independently in a live environment, have strong AWS fundamentals, and take pride in leaving infrastructure cleaner than you found it.

What you'll do

Upgrades & Maintenance

  • Upgrade Kubernetes clusters to a current, supported version across all environments.

  • Upgrade Teleport to the latest version — validate bastion/emergency EC2 access before and after cutover.

  • Upgrade Redis and PostgreSQL (target: 16.x) across all relevant environments.

  • Upgrade DevOps repositories (Terraform, Lambda, and related tooling) across multiple repos.

Infrastructure & Reliability

  • Ensure bastion EC2 instances provide reliable DB access as a fallback when Teleport is unavailable.

  • Sync and standardize Karpenter configuration across all clusters for consistent cost optimization.

  • Correct Kubernetes internal IP ranges from public (192.171/16) to private (192.168/16).

Observability & Hygiene

  • Assess and implement NewRelic agent upgrade strategy on Kubernetes (manual vs. app-version-driven).

  • Deprecate unused AWS resources — security groups, EC2 instances, IAM users, and related artifacts.

What you bring

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure in production environments.

  • Strong working knowledge of Kubernetes — cluster operations, networking, and upgrades.

  • Experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.

  • Experience with Teleport or similar zero-trust access tooling.

  • Familiarity with Karpenter or other Kubernetes autoscaling solutions.

  • Experience upgrading managed or self-hosted PostgreSQL and Redis in AWS.

  • Exposure to NewRelic or similar APM/observability platforms.

  • Comfort working across mixed IaC codebases (Terraform, Lambda, SAM).

When you join Solvd, you'll…

  • Shape real-world AI-driven projects across key industries, working with clients from startup innovation to enterprise transformation.

  • Be part of a global team with equal opportunities for collaboration across continents and cultures.

  • Thrive in an inclusive environment that prioritizes continuous learning, innovation, and ethical AI standards.

Ready to make an impact?

If you're excited to build things that matter, champion responsible AI, and grow with some of the industry’s sharpest minds. Apply today and let’s innovate together.

Solvd is an equal opportunity employer.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
