About Us

Optimum is delivering the world's first high-performance memory infrastructure for any blockchain. Powered by Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC), Optimum scales network speed, robustness, and throughput by orders of magnitude, enhancing dApp performance and end-user experience.

Co-founded by Muriel Médard, co-inventor of RLNC, and a team of industry experts, Optimum introduces a breakthrough in Web3 infrastructure. Blockchains—often called world computers—lack a critical component for infinite scalability: a real-time virtual memory.

Our memory infrastructure enables high-speed data propagation, fast access, and secure updates, scaling the world computer. Backers include 1kx, Spartan, Robot Ventures, Triton Capital (fka Kraken Ventures), Finality Capital, SNZ, and others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management – Deploy, operate, and scale distributed clusters of OptimumP2P nodes, gateways, and relays across multi-cloud environments.

  • Automation & Orchestration – Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes) for rapid, reproducible deployments.

  • Reliability Engineering – Define and monitor SLOs around propagation latency, attestation inclusion delay, and network reliability; implement automated failover and redundancy.

  • Observability & Telemetry – Develop monitoring pipelines (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) with actionable alerts and dashboards for network health and validator-facing KPIs.

  • Security & Resilience – Harden nodes, APIs, and relays against DDoS, replay attacks, and resource exhaustion; manage secrets and peer identities securely.

  • CI/CD Ownership – Maintain build pipelines for services (multi-arch Docker builds, secure image publishing).

  • Cross-Team Collaboration – Work closely with protocol engineers and researchers on large-scale experiments.

  • Incident Response – Create runbooks, perform post-mortems, and continuously improve operational reliability.

  • Programming & Tooling – Write automation scripts, custom operators, and CLI tools (primarily in Go, Python, or Bash) to enhance infrastructure efficiency and debugging workflow

Required Background
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering, ideally with distributed or high-throughput systems.

  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform (multi-region, multi-cloud deployments).

  • Proven track record in observability and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK, OpenTelemetry).

  • Deep understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, packet loss, NAT traversal, DDoS mitigation).

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).

  • Security-first mindset: IAM, secrets management, infra hardening.

  • Bonus: familiarity with libp2p, gRPC, and blockchain validator infrastructure.

What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation package, including token incentives

  • Remote-first work environment with flexible hours

  • Collaborative team culture that values innovation and growth

If you're passionate about Web3 and you thrive in early-stage startup environments where you can make a significant impact, we'd love to hear from you!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
