Senior DevOps Engineer
We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who will contribute to the development of infrastructure technology, and evolution of our engineering processes.
About the Position:
In addition to building scalable, highly-available architecture of ChowNow infrastructure you will be guiding and mentoring the team in so called DevOps best practices and cultivating strong engineering culture based on transparency and inclusiveness. At this role, you will have an opportunity to be a key contributor to high-level platform architecture. Your experience and opinion will have real impact on decisions made, whether it’s about migrating to new tool or removing bottlenecks in our development process. You will be the enabler for improving platform stability and scalability, engineers ability to deploy, monitor and troubleshoot issues, implementation of best practices in security and many other exciting initiatives supporting rapid growth of our platform.

Reports to Director of Infrastructure
30 days:
- Progress through our Ramp Camp (ChowNow’s New Hire Onboarding Experience)
- You will begin to learn and contribute to our development and deployment patterns.
- You will understand major feature areas of our applications and infrastructure.
- You will observe and participate in the interview process of prospective team members.
60 days:
- You will work with engineering leadership to plan the prioritized roadmap of DevOps and Infrastructure projects.
- You will share responsibility for defining, sharing, and achieving team and individual KPI goals.
- You will take full ownership of parts of our infrastructure.
90 days:
- You will share ownership of technology architecture review board.
- You will be a knowledge leader, contributing teaching and continuing to learn.
- You will extend your ownership of infrastructure tools and processes.
- You will be able to take active part in shaping DevOps roadmap by proposing new projects and defining priorities
Within a year:
- You will help us walk through PCI level 1 compliance
- You will contribute to building world-class monitoring, alerting and logging solutions for our platform
- You will become the owner of a number of other tools, platforms, and processes, taking them to next level
You Should Apply If You Have:
- 3+ years of experience with DevOps practices
- 5+ years of overall infrastructure management experience
- 3+ years AWS experience, including but not limited to EC2, RDS, Route 53, and auto-scale
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, Python preferred
- Solid understanding of Linux operating systems, ideally Debian or Ubuntu, and networking fundamentals.
- Solid knowledge of at least one of the major configuration management and automation frameworks (Ansible preferred)
- Hands on experience running highly available MySQL, ElasticSearch or Redis
- Hands on experience setting up and maintaining monitoring, alerting and logging solution
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines, qa/development environments and related tools
- Experience creating scalable systems, preferably in e-commerce or consumer-facing websites.
- Familiarity with modern virtualization techniques and container management solutions such as Docker.
- Enthusiastic contributor to high-level architecture
