Kunai is hiring a Senior Developer with strong expertise in COBOL, TAL, and TACL to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in banking or financial services and a proven ability to design, enhance, and support large-scale, mission-critical applications on Tandem/NonStop systems.

 Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using COBOL, TAL, and TACL.

  • Enhance and modernize legacy systems while ensuring high availability and reliability.

  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and other engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize system performance in production environments.

  • Document technical designs, processes, and best practices.

  • Support deployments, production incidents, and system upgrades.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 5 + years of experience in software development, with a focus on COBOL, TAL, and TACL.

  • Strong knowledge of Tandem/HP NonStop systems.

  • Experience in transaction processing systems and batch programming.

  • Proficiency with SQL/Enscribe databases (NonStop SQL preferred).

  • Familiarity with Guardian OS and Tandem utilities.

  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in large-scale production environments.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills
  • Background in banking, financial services, or payments systems.

  • Exposure to modernization efforts (APIs, microservices, or cloud integration with legacy systems).

  • Knowledge of networking, security, and performance tuning on NonStop platforms.

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git).
