Samba is a media intelligence company. We know what the world is watching, reading, and thinking about — in real time, at scale, across every screen. Our data exists with the consent of over a billion people, organized into the most complete picture of consumer attention ever built. The biggest brands in the world use that picture to make smarter decisions. We think it’s the most interesting data asset on the planet, because it’s the most culturally relevant.

About the Role

Samba is looking for a Senior Designer who works at the intersection of design craft and AI. You'll use Claude Code and Claude Design as fluently as Figma, not as a novelty, but as a core workflow for ideation, production, and creative output.

You'll translate complex data and technology concepts into clear, compelling visual stories, and shape how Samba shows up across every touchpoint: brand, web, campaigns, social, presentations, and events. You'll do it as part of an agile, fast-moving creative team where your work has real visibility and real impact, and you won't be buried in a queue of templated requests.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design high-impact creative across brand, web, campaign, social, presentation, event, and demand-gen formats.

  • Use Claude Code and Claude Design daily to accelerate ideation, prototyping, and production. You should already be doing this, not learning it on the job.

  • Build and evolve design systems in Figma that scale across a growing brand.

  • Design and animate motion content, with a focus on AI-assisted animation tools and workflows (Runway, Midjourney video, Higgsfield, or similar) alongside traditional motion craft.

  • Turn complex data into clear, engaging visual narratives through compelling data visualization.

  • Design polished presentations and sales materials with strong attention to detail and narrative structure.

  • Contribute to the Samba website and campaign builds, working within Framer and modern web/design tooling.

  • Use Google Suite (Slides, Docs, Sheets) fluently for day-to-day collaboration, drafts, and stakeholder-facing work.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Product, and Leadership.

  • Stay current with design trends, emerging AI tools, and workflow innovations that can improve the team's output.

WHO YOU ARE

  • 7+ years of professional design experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong conceptual thinking, visual storytelling, and creative problem-solving across brand, web, and campaign work.

  • AI-forward by default, genuinely comfortable and fluent using Claude Code and Claude Design as part of your actual design workflow, not just aware of them.

  • Expert-level skills in Figma, plus solid working fluency in Google Suite.

  • Animation experience, with real exposure to AI-driven animation and video-generation tools. You know how to direct and refine output, not just prompt and hope.

  • Strong data visualization design ability.

  • Experience developing brand and marketing creative across digital, social, video, and experiential formats.

  • Excellent communication skills. You can present your work, integrate feedback from multiple stakeholders, and explain your thinking clearly.

  • Self-directed and well-organized. You manage your own time and keep projects moving without close oversight.

  • A sharp eye for detail and a high bar for craft.

  • Experience with Framer.

  • Deeper motion/animation background (After Effects, Lottie, CSS/JS animation).

  • Experience designing for social-first formats.

  • Degree in design, fine arts, or a related field.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
