As a Senior Designer, you'll lead and craft engaging experiences, balancing visual design and concepting, collaborating with various teams to execute innovative client projects.

OVERVIEW

We're a creative technology agency that designs and builds immersive, interactive experiences where digital and physical worlds collide. From park-wide gamification platforms and connected retail environments to multi-sensory brand activations and AI-driven installations, our work lives at the intersection of bold creative vision and emerging technology. We're a purposely uncommon team -- equal parts experience designers, creative technologists, and storytellers -- with a mission to reimagine how people live, work, shop, and play.

THE ROLE

You'll be a senior creative force shaping experiences across client engagements and internal concept work. This isn't a pure UX/UI role -- you'll move fluidly between experience design, visual craft, and creative concepting. One week you might be designing interaction systems for a connected retail environment; the next, developing visual direction for an immersive brand activation or crafting storyboards that sell a big idea to a client.

You'll work closely with strategy, creative technology, and engineering to translate ambitious concepts into intuitive, visually compelling experiences -- across mobile apps, spatial interfaces, installations, and connected systems.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Design & Visual Craft

  • Design end-to-end experiences: user flows, interaction models, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI across mobile, web, and experiential platforms.
  • Develop visual design direction -- mood boards, visual systems, and brand-aligned aesthetics (typography, color, iconography, motion language) -- that elevate every project.
  • Build and maintain design systems and component libraries that ensure consistency and scalability across experiences.

Creative and Strategic

  • Contribute to creative concepting alongside strategy and creative direction, shaping ideas from the ground up -- not just executing on briefs handed down.
  • Design compelling pitch decks, storyboards, and visual narratives that bring concepts to life for clients.
  • Explore emerging platforms, technologies, and experiential formats to push what's possible in our work.
  • Stay current on UI, UX, and interaction trends across creative technology, experiential design, and emerging platforms

Collaboration and Craft Leadership

  • Partner with creative technologists and engineers to ensure designs are feasible, performant, and beautifully implemented across physical-digital touchpoints (installations, kiosks, NFC, BLE, connected devices).
  • Participate in design reviews, providing thoughtful critique and guidance to elevate the team's overall creative qualityLead experience and UI design across client projects, from early concept through detailed execution

What you'll bring

  • 6--10+ years in design roles spanning UI, visual design, and experience design -- ideally within a creative agency, digital product studio, or experiential environment.
  • A portfolio that shows range -- interaction thinking and systems-level design alongside strong visual craft. Experience designing for complex or non-traditional interfaces beyond standard marketing websites.
  • Familiarity with experiential design, interactive installations, or connected-device ecosystems strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Figma proficiency for UI design, prototyping, and design system management.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite for supporting production needs.
  • Strong visual design sensibility -- a sharp eye for typography, layout, color, and composition, with deep care for the details.
  • Clear communication -- Ability to concept and art-direct, not just design screens. You articulate design rationale with conviction to internal teams and client stakeholders. Comfort with ambiguity -- you thrive in fast-moving environments where the brief is evolving, and you're helping define the solution.
  • AI-curious -- you're already weaving AI tools into your everyday design process, whether for ideation, visual exploration, prototyping, or production. You see them as a creative accelerant, and you're genuinely curious about where they're headed.

Bonus Points

  • Motion, animation, video editing skills
  • Remote-friendly role, with preference for candidates based in or near San Diego

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
