Job Description

The DBA Lead Consultant performs activities aimed at improving database performance and efficiency. The individual provides trending data on and makes recommendations for performance issues for application and database environments, ensuring stability, and also provide assessment of new or changed products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have a solid understanding of SQL Querying and DB Development/Design.

  • Directs root cause analysis on complex incidents and leads the problem management discussions related to incidents.

  • Develops reports of overall health of the portfolio of databases, escalating substantive capacity utilization variations from forecast to management.

  • Analyzes trending data and provide performance recommendations addressing specific application/system performance issues.

  • Authors complex scripts and tutors other DBA’s in scripting skill and usages.

  • Designs and implements code to support the DBMS environment.

  • Reviews and approves data modeling processes and DBMS specific requirements for basic and intermediate application database requirements.

  • Leads logical data modeling processes for complex applications database requirements and converts logical data models into physical data models.

  • Acts as client advocate, ensuring smooth implementation of application architecture and database standards.

Education

• 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred).

Experience

• 5 or more years of experience (Preferred).

Supervisory Responsibilities

• This job does not have supervisory duties.

Education & Experience (in lieu)

• In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Functional Skills

  • Expert knowledge in database performance monitoring and tuning of multiple DBMSs.

  • Solid knowledge of multiple DB monitoring tools.

  • Basic capacity planning analyses of volume metrics and trends for currently existing databases, based on resource utilization and projected business plans.

  • Demonstrates mastery of data modeling in practical applications of a difficult nature.

  • Expert knowledge of physical database design.

Compensation

Base compensation offered for this role is $76,200 -$110,000 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

*** Total compensation for this role is comprised of several factors, including the base compensation outlined above, plus incentive pay (i.e. commission, bonus, etc.) as applicable for the role.
