This role supports Redfin's Communications team in reaching both external and internal audiences.
(75%) Strengthening reporting on Redfin News, our data-driven editorial team, by expanding beyond traditional articles into innovative, interactive and personalized storytelling formats. Powered by proprietary housing data and on-the-ground agent expertise, our reporting regularly earns national media coverage and shapes how Americans understand the housing market.
(25%) Developing compelling visual assets for internal stakeholders, including executives, real estate agents and other team members.
This is a highly visible role that influences how Redfin is represented in national media and how employees understand the housing market and company strategy.
What You’ll Do
Translate raw datasets into elegant visual narratives that inform and delight readers.
Prototype and iterate on new visual formats — including scrollytelling, animated explainers and interactive maps tailored for web and mobile audiences.
Develop concepts for interactive experiences using modern web tools, partnering with analytics and engineering as needed for implementation.
Manage your workload and deadlines independently while reacting quickly to news cycles with high-quality visual journalism.
Optimize visual content for SEO and shareability across digital platforms.
Ensure visual consistency with Redfin’s brand guidelines across editorial and internal communications.
Create clear, compelling visual materials for internal audiences, including reusable templates and visual frameworks for Redfin’s Communications team.
Design executive presentations, all-hands visuals and field communications.
Who You Are
Bachelor's degree in design, visual communications, data visualization or a related field.
Have at least 5–7+ years of experience in graphic design and data visualization. Experience creating data visualizations for a newsroom or a high-traffic digital publication is preferred.
Have a robust portfolio showcasing both data storytelling and design craft (charts, infographics, presentations, interactive work).
Can translate complex datasets into clear, engaging visual narratives.
Think deeply about visual hierarchy, user experience and interaction design.
Thrive in a fast-paced editorial environment with tight deadlines.
Are self-directed and able to manage multiple projects at once without sacrificing quality.
Solid understanding of typography, color concepts and imagery to convey a story.
Able to adapt tone and format depending on whether the audience is external or internal.
Preferred Technical Skills & Tools
Proficiency in design software, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Figma
Interactive visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Datawrapper, Flourish)
JavaScript-based visualization libraries and frameworks (e.g., D3, Observable, React, Svelte)
Mapping and geospatial tools (Mapbox, Leaflet, GIS tools)
HTML/CSS fundamentals
Wordpress platform

Base Pay Range: $115,300.00 - 172,500.00.The position may also be eligible for an annual bonus, incentives, and other employment-related benefits including, but not limited to, medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401K retirement plan, and paid time off.
