YOUR MISSION:  Provide the best roadside assistance experience to stranded drivers in need and dispatch experience to our service providers.  You will build systems to forecast market dynamics, vet and test business ideas using A/B testing framework and improve machine learning algorithms.  Working at the intersection of Product, Data Engineering, and Platform Engineering, you will develop data products and shape product strategy for our business units, stakeholders and partners.

As an expert in our proprietary data, you have developed product enhancements, strategy and support leadership in pursuing new opportunities and identifying risks. Your work accelerated the company's growth, reduced costs and innovated in the mobility space. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: 

First 2 months: 

  • Understand the roadside assistance business and the company’s software 
  • Understand the goals and responsibilities of Product Management 
  • Understand how the applications interact with the data 

First 6 Months 

  • Build best-in-class predictive models and decision tools 
  • Identify issues and recommend testable improvements to different aspects of the business 
  • Research & Development in transportation/roadside  industries 
  • Prioritize and balance data science research and speed of its implementation  

Ongoing  

  • Develop Proof-of-Concept ideas using data, data science and human behavior to improve our business processes  
  • Work with data engineering and infrastructure to get the data you need 
  • Research and provide cost estimates on new data acquisition to build a better product 
  • Develop algorithms & algorithmic pipeline to deploy into production 
  • Measure the impact of the improvement 

Use effective project and product planning technique to distill user requirements into its manageable components 

  • Be a self-starter and manager 
  • Able to work independently and know when to reach out to stakeholders and teams for clarification or help 
  • Work closely with manager and team to align work with business expectations 
  • Communicate findings and quantify the improvements 
  • Success metric = Everyone in the business should see what the development pipeline looks like and how it solves their issues. 

WHO YOU ARE: 

You have a Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred) in a STEM or related quantitative field (economics, social sciences, finance).  

You have proven 4+ years of experience in using statistical and/or predictive modeling to algorithmically nudge human behavior in a desired direction.  You are obsessed with data and want to know how things work under the hood.  

You have proven experience in working with large datasets in a cloud environment. You worked with data in many forms in structured and unstructured formats (Redshift/Postgres/MySQL or DynamoDB databases). You have worked with large datasets in streaming format, large tables or flat files and have used big data tools (i.e. SageMaker, EMR, Spark) in AWS (Amazon Web Service). 

You are adept at coding and developing prototypes. You have built machine learning models in Python, Jupyter Notebooks, AWS Sagemaker or related technology. 

You have previous experience developing and maintaining data pipelines. You have implemented ML Systems from automated training, modeling, serving, and modeling. Experience with orchestration and data pipeline tools such as Airflow, AWS Step Functions, MLflow. 

You have previous experience applying modeling techniques such as classification/regression, spatial analysis, and time series analysis. You have used location-based data to solve the optimization of complex customized networks in the mobility space. 

You have designed A/B experiments and can evaluate its effectiveness with statistical hypothesis testing and analysis. You have guided business stakeholders to design improvements to the business and quantify the impact. 

You have outstanding written and verbal communication skills. You can effectively communicate a complex data science concept simply in writing and in meetings.  Your writing can move an audience to a clear decision.  

You are well-rounded. You are a technical expert in data science and programming.  You can express your ideas by building models, data analysis, and visualization.  You are self-directed and ask the right questions.   

THE NITTY GRITTY: 

  • Location = Great news!  This position is remote and you have the option of working from anywhere in the U.S.!  
  • Manager = You’ll report to Chief Data Officer 
  • Compensation = The base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $140,000. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. 
  • Benefits = At Urgently, we have awesome benefits!  We provide short term disability, long term disability, and life insurance to you - all free of charge! We also offer three different medical plans to choose from, two dental plans, a vision plan, and other valuable benefits. You’ll have 12 holidays off and unlimited paid time off.  We match 100% on the first 3% you contribute to our 401(k)and then 50% of the next 2% you contribute. So, if you contribute 5% of your paycheck, we’ll match 4% of that.  Free money!
