Forge alternate worlds that deepen players' lives! We're a game development studio based in Los Angeles, dedicated to the idea that online games can deliver deeper, more meaningful experiences. 

As a Senior Data Scientist, you’ll report to our Chief Revenue Officer and help our studio better understand our players and their behaviors across a very broad gaming experience. Decoding the player experience is critical to Palia’s success, and Singularity 6 leverages modern data technologies and techniques in order to make the best games we can. Your work will help shape the direction of high-value projects across the entire game and studio. Our ideal candidate will have significant experience in data science and be excited to shape the way our organization approaches understanding its players - past, present, and future.

Expectations and Responsibilities:

  • You'll partner with our development team to create insights and frameworks that’ll inform the strategic direction of the game overall
  • You'll design and implement product features that leverage data to personalize player experiences
  • You'll collect, transform, and analyze complex data to more deeply understand our audience and their behaviors
  • You'll share your results with the company in clear, illustrative, and creative presentations and dashboards
  • You'll apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our players interact with our game
  • You'll partner with product, design, and engineering to solve problems, identify trends and opportunities, and help shape the strategic direction of the game overall
  • You'll conduct exploratory analyses, helping to inform our roadmap and keeping us ahead of the curve in best serving our players
  • You'll help to set up and optimize our data infrastructure, including informing database and pipeline requirements and technologies

What We're Looking For:

  • Expert knowledge of SQL and proficiency in at least one core programming language (e.g., Python, R, Matlab, Julia, etc)
  • Firm understanding of general concepts within statistics and probability (e.g. hypothesis testing, sampling, estimation, linear models)
  • Ability to build creative analyses and visualizations from scratch using common tools (e.g. Tableau, Looker, etc.)
  • Experience working with and advising product leaders directly leveraging data to empower and direct decision making

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of cloud computing and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with data warehouses, lakes, and lakehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, Delta Lake), and orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Luigi)
  • Experience working with common data platforms (e.g., Databricks, AI Platform, SageMaker)
  • Interest in machine learning techniques

Salary Information

The Los Angeles base salary range for this full-time position is $167,000 - $197,000 annually for a Senior Data Scientist. Base salary will be determined by role, level, and location. The range listed for each job is the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries, for the positions across S6-approved states. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors. Please discuss your specific salary expectations for your preferred location during our interview process.

Compensation details reflect only the base salary, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits such as 401k matching.

Location:

  • Choice of Remote (in approved states) or Hybrid office options in Los Angeles, CA or Orange County, CA unless noted above
  • Aligned to core Pacific Coast hours (10:00am - 4:00pm PT) 
  • Remote eligible locations (the United States): California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington
