Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist who is business-savvy, proactive, and intellectually curious, with the expertise to apply advanced statistical methods and modeling to solve large-scale business challenges. In this role, you will be a key member of the Consumer Analytics team, shaping how data science informs the customer journey—from product discovery through engagement and retention.

Your primary focus will be on our flagship consumer products, ABCmouse.com® and Adventure Academy™, where you will build models, conduct in-depth analyses, and develop data-driven product features that directly influence product strategy and business growth. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams to translate data into actionable insights and ensure data science capabilities are embedded into both decision-making processes and product innovation.

Responsibilities include developing predictive and statistical models, partnering with engineering teams to design and implement data-driven product features at scale, and producing insights that help us understand customer behavior and inform product improvements. The heart of this role is applying data science to drive measurable business and educational impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with multiple stakeholders, including the executive team, marketing, partnerships, strategy, product, and customer success, to understand business needs and surface insights and learnings that address them
  • Develop statistical analyses and build and deploy machine learning models to understand and predict customer behavior and product performance 
  • Contribute to the data science roadmap and strategy, helping define priorities for data-driven features, analyses, and innovation.
  • Inform A/B and multivariate testing methodology
  • Communicate results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Identify actionable insights that positively affect both company revenue and learning outcomes for children
  • Build personalization features that enhance the customer experience.
  • Mentor others across the company on Data Science best practices, tools, and techniques

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in a data-intensive role
  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field
  • Proven experience with analytical, statistical, and machine learning methods
  • Experience building and deploying models in production environments
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Curious, motivated, self-starter, collaborative, team player
  • Passionate about high-quality, insightful data analysis
  • Experience mentoring others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with consumer-facing digital products, especially gaming or educational apps.
  • Familiarity with advanced modeling techniques, such as:
  • Causal inference methods (e.g., propensity scoring, difference-in-differences, uplift modeling)
  • Survival analysis and churn modeling
  • Personalization and recommender systems
  • Clustering and segmentation methods

Total Compensation:
The estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $170,000 USD to $200,000 USD. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
