About The Role:
Expression is seeking a Sr Data Scientist (Managing Lead) to support the continued growth of their Data Science Department. This role will be responsible for leading teams in designing and implementing high-impact data engineering, data science, and AI/ML solutions across a variety of domains and use cases. The ideal candidate thrives in a highly technical, collaborative environment and excels at leading high-performing teams to drive innovation and deliver measurable results under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with program managers and product owners to develop and deliver products that customers love.
  • Lead cross-functional teams of data scientists, engineers, architects, and subject matter experts through all phases of the data science lifecycle.
  • Design, implement, and deploy data pipelines and machine learning models in production environments.
  • Drive excellence in Data Science and Engineering while fostering a culture of innovation.
  • Perform quality management and performance reviews.
  • Work in a consultative fashion to improve communication, collaboration, and alignment within the Data Science Department and across the organization.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of white papers and proposals, supporting business growth through technical expertise.
  • Analyze product strategy and provide data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Participate in research, case studies, and prototype development to explore and leverage cutting-edge technologies.
  • Help to recruit, mentor, and retain top data science and engineering talent.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience working as a data scientist or data engineer with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Data Science/Statistics or relevant discipline, 8+ years of experience, with MS, or 5+ years of experience with PhD.
  • Current Security+ certification (or must obtain within 30 days)
  • 5+ years of experience creating AI/ML models and data pipelines in production.
  • 5+ years of experience using Python language and libraries for data science.
  • 5+ years of experience creating ETL processes and working with a variety of databases (SQL, NoSQL, Graph, etc.) and data architectures (Data Lake, Lakehouse).
  • 3+ years of experience leading a team in an Agile environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in short-release cycles and the full software lifecycle.
  • Expert knowledge of machine learning algorithms and advanced statistical concepts and methods.
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills to deliver design documents, technical reports, and presentations to a variety of audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Azure solutions (Databricks, Spark Streaming, OpenAI Service).
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, MongoDB, and graph databases.
  • Experience with NLP and Large Language Models.
  • Experience with GenAI enabled daily workflows (coding, testing, analytics).
  • Familiarity with Tensorflow, Caffe2, PyTorch, Keras, and PySpark.
