OVERVIEW:

The Senior Data Engineer on the Athlete team will support a wide array of data sources, inbound and outbound. They collaborate with vendors to build and maintain ingress and egress data flows. This data supports marketing functions that do not necessarily relate to others, so the ability to go deep and broad quickly is crucial to this role.

The Senior Data Engineer should be able to break down ambiguously defined goals into stories and sprints so they can collaborate with, and  coordinate others, in execution of the work. Experience with PII data security and handling, Identity Resolution, and conforming disparate datasets into logically uniform datasets, as well as giving others guidance and feedback to achieve team goals is highly preferred.

Experience with Python, Databricks, SQL, data modeling, refactoring codebase, cataloging/data governance, and agile development are a plus. Time partnering with data scientists, sales/marketing teams, software engineering teams, and analysts are additionally a bonus. 

Lead in data modeling and pipeline development, leveraging established patterns. Partner with Data Analysts to determine data requirements to support the organization's business needs. Perform business/data analysis. May coordinate solutions within a product team. Determine database structural requirements to support the organization's business needs. Support solutions that ensure enterprise systems remain best-in-class. Learn to lead teams and solutions.

Data Movement: Drive the design distribution of basic data infrastructure resources and create physical modeling and design services to tune database applications for optimum performance

Data Architecture: Drive the modeling of highly complex data structures that allow for easy consumption and analysis. Select the appropriate technology for the implementation of solutions, leveraging a clear understanding of industry best practices and trends.

Data Set Exploration and Documentation: Drive the analysis, documentation and articulation of complex datasets while establishing quality and the lineage of the data.

Functional/Technical Requirements: Support the collection functional requirements using document analysis and workflow analysis to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.

Program/Portfolio Management Support: Contribute to work within an established program management plan to achieve specific goals.

Analysis of Current vs. Future State: Support and contribute to the documentation of Current vs. Future state processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the future capability to record accurately the change required.

Infrastructure and Network Development and Maintenance: Design and select data platforms to design solutions in line with industry best practice.

Information Security and Compliance: Create and implement best practices for safely and securely moving data. Configure infrastructure utilizing department standards for access controls, firewall rules and storage.

Technical Developments Recommendation: Research and suggest ways to optimize solutions to better meet user and/or business, performance, quality needs.

Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of non-compliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these and escalating issues as appropriate.

Ongoing Learning and Development: Develop own and more junior team member capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level preferred

  • General Experience: Experience enables job holder to deal with the majority of situations and to advise others (Over 3 years to 6 years)

  • Managerial Experience: Basic experience of coordinating the work of others (4 to 6 months)

Targeted Pay Range: $83,000.00 - $138,200.00. This is part of a competitive total rewards package that could include other components such as: incentive, equity and benefits. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
