The Opportunity

Since 2005, MDCalc has been an essential part of the clinician’s workflow to help achieve better patient outcomes. Actively used by more than 65% of physicians worldwide, MDCalc is the most broadly used medical reference – at the point-of-care – for clinical decision tools and content, and one of only four references used by >50% of US HCPs. These evidence-based tools and content are used by millions of medical professionals globally and support 50+ specialties and cover 200+ patient conditions.

To continue accelerating this growth, we are expanding the team with a Senior Data Analyst who will help turn product and user data into clear insights that guide decision-making across the company. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with product, engineering, and leadership teams to translate complex data into meaningful insights. The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, and motivated by using data to help shape product decisions and improve outcomes for clinicians and patients.

  • Translate complex datasets into clear insights and recommendations that guide product and business strategy

  • Investigate trends and patterns in clinician behavior, platform usage, and content performance

  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across reporting and analytics workflows

  • Communicate findings clearly to cross-functional stakeholders, including leadership and non-technical teams

Your Background
  • 5-7+ years of experience in data analytics, product analytics, or business intelligence roles

  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets, including the ability to independently explore data and investigate complex product or user behavior questions

  • Experience analyzing product or user behavior data and translating insights into actionable recommendations

  • Experience designing and analyzing experiments or A/B tests

  • Familiarity with Python or R for data analysis is a plus

  • Experience with BI and data visualization tools such as Metabase, Looker, Tableau, or similar

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Curiosity and a strong sense of ownership when investigating questions and uncovering insights

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
