Dandy is transforming the massive and antiquated dental industry—an industry worth over $200B. Backed by some of the world’s leading venture capital firms, we’re on an ambitious mission to simplify and modernize every function of the dental practice through technology. As we expand our reach globally, Dandy is building the operating system for dental offices around the world—empowering clinicians and their teams with technology, innovation, and world-class support to achieve more for their practices, their people, and their patients.

Revolutionizing the dental industry is hard…and we need help.

We're on the hunt for experienced senior data scientists who can tackle some of our most significant challenges within our manufacturing operations and supply chain. Our Operations team plays a pivotal role in Dandy's dental operations, overseeing critical areas like production management, workforce analytics and supply chain optimization. In this dynamic, cross-functional role, you'll have the freedom to independently harness data to drive recommendations that propel Dandy to become the top dental lab in the industry.
This is a primarily remote role; however, it requires regular and sometimes frequent travel to our manufacturing facilities across the United States and globally, including key sites in Provo, Utah, Indianapolis, and the Dallas–Fort Worth area.

Your responsibilities/opportunities

  • Build production management and prescriptive analytics systems to help the manufacturing team execute and scale

  • Develop and share insights that drive impact within the Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations teams

  • Define the data language (i.e. KPIs, dashboards, measurement, etc) to ensure your team grasps the underlying truth that drives progress and success

  • Facilitate rapid decision making through ad hoc work or by democratizing data/self service (effective BI or user-friendly explores in Looker in partnership with our data engineers)

  • Utilize your data super powers to reduce ambiguity and solve problems

  • Mentor other analysts and help them grow

About you:

  • 6+ years of experience working in data analytics or data science, ideally in a B2B operations setting

  • BA/BS in a quantitative field such as statistics, computer science, operations research or a BA/BS in behavioral science (economics, psychology, etc) with statistics skills

  • Excellent SQL skills

  • Strong scripting Python skills

  • Previous experience using data to drive impact in manufacturing or operations environments

  • Familiarity with operations research and supply chain management concepts

  • Strong communication skills and experience communicating results in a way that drives change. You have the ability to use data to inform, align, and lead

  • Strong senses of autonomy and ownership

  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and statistical skills

Bonus points:

  • Have experience turning vague operational problems and turning them into statistically rigorous analyses & solutions (i.e causal inference, predictive modeling)

  • Interest in working and learning in an earlier stage company where we’re still working out some of the basics

  • Bias for action and desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

  • Strong customer empathy, particularly for dentists

  • Experience with Hex/Jupyter, DBT or Data Orchestration (we use Dagster)

Req ID: J-706

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
