Genius Sports – Senior Counsel: Product - Ad Tech

Genius Sports is seeking a Senior Counsel to support our rapidly expanding media business, based in our brand-new Chelsea office.

The role:

  • Advise on ad tech partnerships and integrations across our sports media ecosystem

  • Draft and negotiate advertising technology agreements, including DSP/SSP partnerships, media curation deals, data licensing deals, and programmatic advertising contracts. 

  • Ensure compliance with IAB standards and best practices across all ad tech initiatives

  • Navigate data privacy requirements in advertising contexts, including GDPR, CCPA, and emerging state privacy laws, in partnership with the privacy team

  • Partner with the larger legal team by providing ad tech expertise and input on larger complex commercial matters

  • Support product development by providing legal guidance on new ad tech features and data products

  • Manage relationships with ad tech platforms, measurement providers, and data partners

  • Collaborate with business teams to structure compliant advertising products and revenue streams

What you'll bring:

  • 3-5+ years in-house legal experience at ad tech companies, publishers, or digital media businesses

  • Deep knowledge of the advertising technology ecosystem and its context within the larger media landscape, and a strong ability to translate the complexity of the industry for stakeholders across the company

  • Proven experience with data privacy laws in advertising contexts (GDPR, CCPA, state privacy laws)

  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills for complex technology agreements

  • Experience with cross-border data transfers, international privacy compliance, and measurement and attribution transparency considerations

  • New York bar admission (or ability to waive in)

It'll be a bonus if you have:

  • Background at sports media companies, publishers, or ad tech platforms

  • Experience with gaming/betting advertising regulations

  • Knowledge of measurement and attribution legal frameworks

  • Familiarity with connected TV/OTT advertising legal issues

The salary for this role is based on an annualized range of $165,000 - $185,000 USD. This role will also be eligible to take part in the Genius Sports Group's benefit plan.
