The Senior Cost Accounting Manager will oversee cost accounting processes, lead financial reporting, analyze variances, and manage cost accounting staff in a biotech manufacturing environment.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Cost Accounting Manager to lead all aspects of cost accounting and inventory analysis within a highly innovative biotech manufacturing environment. This position will play a critical role in financial reporting, cost control, and strategic decision-making to support operational excellence and business growth. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of manufacturing and standard cost environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee cost accounting processes, including standard cost development, cost of goods sold (COGS), and inventory valuation.
Lead month-end and quarter-end close processes for all manufacturing cost-related activities.
Analyze manufacturing variances, labor efficiency, and material usage to identify cost improvement opportunities.
Partner with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to enhance cost control and profitability.
Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts across multiple production sites.
Prepare and present detailed cost reports, forecasts, and analysis to senior leadership.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies while driving process improvements.
Support audits and assist in developing robust internal controls over inventory and costing.
Manage and mentor cost accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5-7 years of progressive experience.
Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory management.
Advanced Excel and ERP systems experience (SAP or Oracle preferred).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proven leadership abilities and experience working cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.
