The senior copywriter is a veteran storyteller, content creator, and marketing professional who is responsible for delivering effective marketing content across a wide range of platforms and channels. They must adopt each client’s voice and tone, maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant facts about their clients’ institutions and programs, and maintain an understanding of best practices across all relevant platforms and channels.

Essential Tasks
  • Write marketing literature, promotional emails, web pages, digital advertising materials, video scripts, and more
  • Regularly create compelling content that tells the client’s story, aligns with project requests and objectives, aligns with the client’s branding strategy in terms of voice, tone, and messaging, is effective in context, addresses the specific needs of the targeted audience, will motivate the reader to act, and is free of grammatical, spelling, and factual errors
  • Serve as the lead writer for several clients (get to know them, adopt their voice and style, etc.)
  • Participate in projects at all stages, from strategy and concept development through publication
  • Balance work on multiple campaigns for multiple clients simultaneously (Must display advanced time management skills, as the individual will be delivering on a wide variety of competing requests, often with overlapping timelines)
  • Take the lead on developing concepts that may serve as the foundation for the visual and linguistic direction of entire campaigns
  • Conduct research and interviews to collect information needed to create effective content
  • Proactively push for clarity on assignment objectives and details, as needed
  • Keep abreast of industry trends to consistently deliver fresh, timely, and compelling content
  • Keep abreast of individual client updates (both factual and stylistic) to ensure that all copy is fresh, accurate, and relevant
  • Keep abreast of continually evolving platform specifications (particularly for digital media ads) and best practices for performance across all channels, and ensure that copy meets those benchmarks
  • Present their work both internally and to clients; occasional travel required
  • Be willing to occasionally contribute to business development efforts, should a need arise
  • Other duties as assigned
Preferred Skills and Experience
    • 6+ years of relevant professional experience required
    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
    • Familiar with the higher education industry
    • Devoted to delivering clean, compelling, and error-free copy
    • Well-versed in foundational marketing concepts as well as best practices for crafting direct marketing content that captivates readers and motivates them to act
    • Well-versed in the higher-education enrollment cycle as well as the needs and motivations of various audiences
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – including presentation skills
    • Excellent understanding of Google Workspace products (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.), Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft products (Word and PowerPoint)
    • Ability to maintain effective working relationships fellow team members, employees, management, and clients
    • Must be organized and detail oriented
    • Able to work collaboratively and independently.
    • Proven self-motivation to take initiative and master new tasks quickly
    • Proven ability to maintain a high standard of confidentiality and autonomy

The pay range for this position is $70,000-$75,000/year with eligibility for bonus and full-time benefits; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, geographic location, skills, and experience. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed.
