Join Our Team as a Content Marketing & Communications Manager!

Childhelp is seeking a highly skilled writer and content strategist to serve as Senior Content Marketing & Communications Manager. This role will lead the development of compelling, mission-driven content across Childhelp’s website, email communications, blog, executive thought leadership, and other channels.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional and versatile writer who can translate complex, sensitive topics into clear, engaging, and actionable content. This person will combine strong editorial judgment with hands-on SEO expertise, ensuring Childhelp’s content not only tells powerful stories but is also discoverable, measurable, and aligned with the organization’s awareness, engagement, and donor-growth goals.

Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Senior Content Marketing & Communications Manager will collaborate with leaders, program teams, fundraising staff, external partners, and Childhelp’s public relations agency to elevate the organization’s voice and expand the reach of its mission.


What You'll Do:

Content Strategy and Editorial Management

  • Develop and manage an integrated editorial calendar spanning email newsletter, blog, website, executive thought leadership, public relations, fundraising campaigns, and other organizational priorities.

  • Identify compelling stories, trends, program developments, and subject-matter expertise that can be transformed into timely external content.
  • Gather information from program leaders, philanthropy team, executives, and other stakeholders across the organization.

  • Translate complex programmatic information and sensitive subject matter into clear, accessible, and audience-appropriate content.
  • Maintain a consistent organizational voice while adapting messaging for donors, partners, parents, educators, policymakers, media, and the general public.
  • Repurpose key stories and thought leadership across email, website, social media, earned media, fundraising campaigns, and other channels.
  • Help establish efficient editorial workflows, review processes, and content standards across the organization.

Executive Thought Leadership

  • Ghostwrite thought-leadership content for Childhelp’s COO and other senior leaders, including Forbes contributions, op-eds, articles, commentary, speeches, talking points, letters, and executive communications.
  • Capture and maintain each executive’s authentic voice while positioning Childhelp leaders as credible national experts to convey Childhelp's leadership.

  • Collaborate with executives, internal subject-matter experts, and the public relations agency to identify timely topics and develop strong points of view.
  • Conduct interviews and research to turn executive ideas and organizational expertise into compelling, publication-ready content.
  • Draft and refine op-eds and contributed articles for submission to national, regional, industry, and nonprofit publications.
  • Support executive preparation for media interviews, speaking engagements, panels, and other visibility opportunities.

SEO and Blog Content

  • Develop and execute an SEO-informed content strategy that increases Childhelp’s organic visibility and connects people with trusted child abuse prevention, intervention, treatment, and support resources.
  • Conduct keyword research and identify content opportunities based on search behavior, audience needs, organizational priorities, and relevant cultural conversations.
  • Write, edit, publish, and regularly refresh search-optimized blog content.
  • Apply SEO best practices related to page titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal linking, calls to action, readability, and content structure.
  • Work with internal team members and external website partners to identify and resolve content-related SEO opportunities.
  • Monitor organic traffic, keyword performance, engagement, and conversions, using insights to improve future content.
  • Balance search performance with Childhelp’s trauma informed brand voice, authority, and responsibility to the people seeking help.

Website Content

  • Own routine copy updates across Childhelp’s website, ensuring content remains accurate, current, accessible, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Write and/or optimize landing pages, program pages, campaign pages, resource content, and calls to action.

  • Coordinate more technical updates with the organization’s web development partner.

  • Help improve website structure, content hierarchy, internal linking, user journeys, and conversion pathways.
  • Collaborate with marketing, fundraising, program, and leadership teams to ensure website content supports awareness, engagement, resource access, and donor acquisition.
  • Conduct regular content audits and recommend updates, consolidation, optimization, or removal of outdated material.

Email and Newsletter Content

  • Lead the planning, content gathering, writing, editing, production, and distribution of Childhelp’s regular newsletter.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to consistently source meaningful organizational updates, program stories, impact information, and upcoming opportunities.
  • Write compelling subject lines, preview text, headlines, calls to action, and supporting copy.
  • Coordinate newsletter approvals, assets, links, testing, and deployment through Childhelp’s email marketing platform.
  • Review performance metrics such as open rates, click-through rates, engagement, and donation conversions, and apply findings to future communications.

  • Support additional organizational and campaign email content as needed.

Public Relations Support

  • Support the Vice President of Marketing in the management of Childhelp’s external public relations agency.
  • Provide the agency with background information, executive drafts, organizational updates, program details, messaging, and other content needed to advance media opportunities.
  • Collaborate on press materials, media pitches, contributed content, executive positioning, and timely responses to relevant news.
  • Help ensure alignment among public relations, website, email, social media, fundraising, and campaign messaging.
  • Track content opportunities and deliverables associated with earned-media initiatives.
Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, public relations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Five or more years of professional experience in content marketing, communications, journalism, editorial strategy, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, research, and interviewing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience ghostwriting for executives, organizational leaders, or subject-matter experts.
  • A strong portfolio showing the ability to write across formats, including executive thought leadership, op-eds, blogs, email communications, and website copy.
  • Hands-on experience developing and optimizing content for SEO, including keyword research, on-page optimization, internal linking, and content performance analysis.
  • Experience producing newsletters and working within Mailchimp or a comparable email marketing platform.
  • Strong understanding of editorial planning and integrated content development across multiple channels.
  • Working knowledge of public relations and experience collaborating with an external agency or media-relations team.
  • Ability to gather information from busy leaders and internal stakeholders, manage competing deadlines, and move projects forward independently.
  • Strong project-management, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Sound editorial judgment and the ability to approach sensitive subject matter with empathy, accuracy, care, and discretion.
  • Comfort using website, SEO, and email analytics to assess performance and guide decisions.
