Want to help us help others? We’re hiring!

GoFundMe is the world’s most powerful community for good, dedicated to helping people help each other. By uniting individuals and nonprofits in one place, GoFundMe makes it easy and safe for people to ask for help and support causes—for themselves and each other. Together, our community has raised more than $40 billion since 2010.

As a Senior Content Designer at GoFundMe, you’ll play a key role in shaping some of our most mission-critical product initiatives. You’ll advocate with confidence for clear, consistent, motivating language at the center of our products and the design process itself.

We’re looking for someone with a background in UX content design crafting experiences for social media platforms (activity feeds, user-generated content, profiles, sharing), to help define an exciting new chapter for our business. You’ll also have a hand in developing our growing content design practice, helping evolve our processes and standards across the company.

While officially a remote-eligible role, we’re looking for candidates based in San Diego, Los Angeles, or San Francisco.

The Role
  • Lead content design on high-profile product initiatives as a part of a cross-functional product team
  • Partner with product designers, researchers, product managers, engineers, legal, marketing, and other writers
  • Align your work with business goals, user needs, and our design system.
  • Advocate confidently for clear, consistent, engaging content for your product area at every stage of the product cycle
  • Champion the discipline's impact by proactively mentoring designers, PMs, and others to help them improve their UX writing skills and center content in their own processes

You

  • Have a strong content design portfolio of projects showcasing goals, process, and outcomes, including business impact.
  • Have a background in designing product experiences for social media ecosystems—activity feeds, user-generated content, profiles, sharing, etc.
  • Confidently connect your strong knowledge of user psychology in online social ecosystems to tangible UX solutions
  • Confidently contribute to product strategy and vision - not just what words to write, but what product we should build
  • Clearly articulate your content recommendations and decisions to stakeholders
  • Give, seek, and incorporate thoughtful feedback - whether it’s about product strategy, design decisions, or word choice
  • Advocate for equitable, accessible design and product choices that serve all users with care and attention
  • Take initiative and prioritize workload while meeting project deadlines.
  • Have experience working with a design system and using tools like Figma, Lyssna (UsabilityHub), and JIRA

Preferred

  • Experience tracking the business impact of content design and communicating it to internal stakeholders.
  • Writing experience in the digital fundraising space.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
