About the Job:

The Senior Consultant – Mortgage Quality Control is responsible for evaluating and reanalyzing mortgage loan applications to ensure creditworthiness, compliance with lending guidelines, and risk mitigation. This role involves sample selection, file reviews, defect remediation, and reporting to clients.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Perform quality control review of mortgage loans for creditworthiness, documentation accuracy, and compliance with investor guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze credit reports, income documentation, asset verification, property appraisals, and other relevant financial information.
  • Confirm sound underwriting decisions regarding loan approval, conditions, or denials based on comprehensive risk analysis.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to department staff.
  • Collaborate with clients to resolve underwriting issues and clarify loan conditions.
  • Stay updated with changes in mortgage lending regulations, investor requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of audit activities and findings in compliance with department procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable investor lending regulations (e.g., Portfolio, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA and Consumer Loans).
  • Review and update QC policies and procedures in response to market conditions.

What You’ll Bring with You:

  • Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage lending guidelines and investor requirements (Portfolio, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA and Consumer Loans).
  • Deep knowledge of mortgage products, credit analysis, and agency guidelines.
  • Proven ability to make independent, high-stakes decisions with accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience leading and/or building underwriting teams is a plus.
  • Proficiency with top industry loan origination systems (LOS)
  • FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) certification preferred
