The Opportunity
The Senior Consultant, Business Solution Design & Optimization will help evaluate, redesign, and implement business processes and solutions that improve customer, employee, and business outcomes. Working across multidisciplinary teams, this role will identify opportunities to simplify operations, enhance service and digital experiences, and shape scalable business solutions.
The individual will apply an experimentation-based approach to validate ideas, quantify value, and implement proven improvements. Initiatives will vary in scope and complexity and may include process redesign, automation, operating model enhancements, cost optimization, customer experience improvements, and emerging technology enablement.
This role contributes to driving transformational change across Retirement & Income Solutions (RIS) and contributing to strategic initiatives that strengthen business performance, improve operational effectiveness, and support both revenue growth and expense management.

Key Responsibilities
- Build deep expertise in RIS products, customers, and operations to identify improvement opportunities and lead initiatives that enhance processes, performance metrics, and business outcomes.
- Drive end-to-end execution of strategic initiatives, including problem definition, hypothesis development, data analysis, insight generation, and stakeholder alignment to validate opportunities and inform decision making.
- Assess and shape future-state business solutions, operating models, and customer experiences through service blueprinting, journey mapping, systems analysis, cost and value assessments, roadmap development, and strategic tradeoff analysis.
- Manage projects, deliverables, dependencies, and risks while developing strong cross-functional partnerships across operations, technology, finance, legal, risk, and compliance to drive successful implementation.
- Champion a customer-centric approach to process, product, and solution design, measuring and communicating initiative outcomes - including customer, operational, and financial impacts - to support continuous improvement and informed prioritization.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree required with 4+ years of experience across multiple disciplines (design, business, social science, etc.).
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to navigate gaining buy-in from cross-functional teams, such as business, technology, and operations.
- Experience developing process maps of various types (value chain mapping, journey maps, service blueprints, etc.) that are tangible and grounded in driving business outcomes
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to scope, define, and execute initiatives while balancing multiple projects and priorities of varying complexity.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to complete discovery activities, formulate and validate hypotheses, identify opportunities and pain points from insights, and confidently articulate recommendations to stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset with a focus on driving value while balancing costs and risks, and the ability to deconstruct complex problems into specific action plans grounded in first principles, paired with genuine curiosity and a desire to continuously learn and grow.
- Ability to apply AI in high-value scenarios to improve effectiveness, quality and business impact while structuring work to combine AI with subject matter expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with annuities and life insurance businesses, management consulting, or design research and strategy.
- Experience using AI tools (Co-Pilot & Claude) to re-imagine processes and automate work.
- Familiarity with agile project management / agile approaches to work
- Experience analyzing and synthesizing large amounts of data (strong skills in Excel, Alteryx, or similar platform preferred).
