Position Overview:

The Senior Compliance Manager is responsible for providing leadership and strategic guidance to the Compliance Department, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies. This role oversees case management, serves as an expert advisor on compliance matters, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and support business objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to the Department’s Case Management (i.e., inbox and hotline), advising the business on various compliance-related topics in a professional and efficient manner; ensure the team’s resolutions are compliant and appropriate while meeting the business’s needs.
  • Act as an escalation point for more difficult Compliance Cases when team members require guidance/support, using discretion to advise on the course of action.
  • Serve as an in-house expert to provide compliance advice and guidance to all staff and management teams, addressing any compliance questions.
  • Operate as the resident TRID subject matter expert, advising on complexities of the Rule and its practical implementation.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement by analyzing trends in Compliance Cases, monitoring and testing, audit, and examinations to implement operational efficiencies, training, policies and procedures to better support the business.
  • Contribute to examinations, monitoring and testing, audit, and consumer complaint processes by crafting narratives, drafting rebuttals, and conducting root cause analysis of any errors identified.
  • Assist in the Risk Management lifecycle by documenting emerging risks, conducting research, identifying corrective action, and conducting UAT/validation testing.
  • Prepare written reports and presentations for members of the executive/senior management teams.
  • Cross-collaborate with key stakeholders in other departments, fostering effective business relationships to meet department goals and objectives.
  • Manage and support Compliance staff; establish clearly defined standards, goals, and objectives.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and updates by reading bulletins, circulars, and other pronouncements from CFPB, OCC, and state regulatory agencies.
  • Any other duties assigned by Senior Management, including, but not limited to, special projects.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial institution with a minimum of 3 years’ risk management or compliance experience. 
  • Knowledge of loan operations (processing, underwriting, closing, QA).
  • Knowledge of federal and state mortgage lending regulations, including but not limited to Dodd Frank Wallstreet Reform Act, QM/ATR, RESPA, TILA, ECOA, HMDA, GLBA, Fair Lending, UDAAP, and SAFE Act.
  • Knowledge of TRID.
  • Encompass experience, preferred.
  • Fees compliance experience, a plus.
  • Expert knowledge of Mavent, preferred.
  • JIRA experience, preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication, management, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent project management, prioritization, and time management skills.

Pay Range:

  • Base Pay:
  • $70,000.00 - $75,000.00
  • The posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
