Position Summary

The Senior Compensation Partner will provide extensive expertise in the design, development, and administration of comprehensive pay programs that attract, retain, and reward top talent.  This role will collaborate with HRBPs and managers to find solutions, advise on matters of retention, recognition, and organization design, ensuring alignment with the organization’s growth objectives and regulatory requirements.   The Senior Compensation Partner will leverage market intelligence to provide data‑driven and compliant recommendations that align to ImmunityBio’s compensation philosophy, internal equity and external competitiveness, ensuring data integrity through audits and education of team members.

Essential Functions

  • Provide expert consultation and advice to management and human resources on pay issues and compensation policies and practices (e.g., fair labor standards adherence, pay equity review, or general compensation policy interpretation).
  • Design, develop, and advise on base salary, incentive, equity, and merit pay programs, providing guidance on annual compensation planning, benchmarking, and market pricing activities to ensure that the compensation infrastructure remains competitive and financially sustainable
  • Conduct rigorous job evaluations, perform internal equity reviews, and classify positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to maintain compliance and equitable treatment across job classifications and hierarchies
  • Provide guidance and hands on support to management and human resources in writing job descriptions.
  • Apply advanced Excel techniques, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas, to compile, cleanse, and interpret compensation data to prepare detailed analyses, reports and dashboards
  • Conduct the annual review of various pay programs to ensure equitable pay practices, internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance.
  • Prepare narrative and graphic presentations that facilitate informed decision‑making and support strategic initiatives such as talent acquisition, variable compensation and regulatory pay compliance
  • Lead or advise on key projects including compensation policy development and deployment, pay equity and compliance initiatives, and process automation
  • Administer variable-pay programs, including short-term incentives and sales bonus plans, ensuring that payout calculations are accurate, timely, and compliant with program guidelines.
  • Analyze and interpret market information and internal demographics to recommend market strategies, job architecture, and salary structures
  • Advise or participate in the development and maintenance of job and pay documentation to guarantee accuracy and audit readiness
  • Create, edit and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process improvements, and standardization of templates
  • Perform ad-hoc and cross-functional duties and/or projects, as assigned, to support business needs and provide developmental opportunities

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required.
  • 8+ years’ progressive experience required in designing, administering, and maintaining various aspects of compensation programs required.
  • Experience with the design, implementation and communications of compensation programs required.
  • Experience with HRIS configurations and business processes required. 
  • Experience designing, launching and maintaining job frameworks required
  • Experience with Workday strongly preferred
  • CCP and/or SHRM-CP certification preferred
  • Experience with Sales Compensation preferred
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech companies preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated expertise in compensation programs and strategies
  • Business acumen with an understanding of the impact of how compensation strategy impacts other human resources activities and business strategy
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with FLSA and other state and federal laws and regulations regarding wage and hour and other pay equity and reporting compliance mandates
  • Highly proficient in spreadsheets (i.e. Excel) and presentation (i.e. PowerPoint) software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with and influence all levels of management. 
  • Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals.
  • Knowledgeable of current trends in the external labor market and total rewards best practices.  Able to maintain current on trends and legislature related to wage and hour practices.
  • Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.
  • High integrity in handling confidential information
  • Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to navigate changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to coach, advise and influence Compensation and HR partners
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements such as automating or streamlining compensation workflows or methodologies

Working Environment / Physical Environment

  • This position works on site in El Segundo, CA
  • Regular work schedule is Monday – Friday, within standard business hours.  Flexibility is available with manager approval.

This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity award. The annual base pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.

 

$155,000 (entry-level qualifications) to $165,000 (highly experienced) annually
