The Opportunity
Altana is looking for a strategic and versatile Senior Communications Manager to drive our external messaging, manage media relations, and execute high-impact communication and social media strategies. This role is central to shaping how Altana is perceived by the media, customers, and the broader industry, requiring a blend of creative content creation, media strategy, and corporate communications expertise.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Corporate Communications & PR: Manage developing and distributing press releases, developing pitches with Altana’s media agency, and coordinating and staffing press briefings and events with senior Altana leaders. You will also be responsible for developing thought leadership content with senior executives.
- Social Media Strategy & Management: Develop, execute, and oversee Altana's comprehensive LinkedIn strategy to drive engagement, thought leadership, and brand awareness. This includes writing and scheduling compelling social media copy, managing the content calendar, and partnering with brand design on engaging social media assets. Monitor LinkedIn and engage with the audience.
- External Communications & Content: Serve as a writer for high-level external communications. This includes writing compelling copy for corporate newsletters, key corporate announcements, and crisis communications.
- Media Relations & Consistency: Oversee the earned media strategy for key product announcements and campaigns, working closely with integrated marketing managers to ensure consistency and impact across all channels.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a related field, with demonstrated experience managing social media for a corporate brand. Experience in a B2B SaaS, AI, high-growth tech, or public policy environment is highly preferred.
- Proven track record of securing high-tier media placements and managing relationships with influential press.
- Expertise in developing and executing professional social media strategies (especially LinkedIn).
- Exceptional writing and editing skills across a variety of formats (press releases, social media copy, long-form articles).
- Strategic mind with the ability to translate complex technology and business challenges into compelling, simple communication stories.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
This role can be based in Brooklyn, NY, USA or Washington, D.C., USA, with hybrid work flexibility and candidates must be within commuting distance from our Williamsburg, Brooklyn office or our downtown D.C. office.
US Salary Range and Benefits
$145,000 - $175,000
The salary range, to the extent specified for this role, is a good faith statement of the minimum and maximum levels of the annual based salary for the position. The base salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on a wide range of compensation factors, including, but not limited to, work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Altana's total compensation package. Altana also offers either a discretionary bonus or a variable compensation plan depending on the role. Additionally, Altana offers top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including:
