Senior Commodity Manager
Role Description
Dropbox is seeking an experienced Sourcing Manager to join the foundations of our rapidly growing Hybrid Infrastructure team. This person will be responsible for sourcing the commodity hardware needed to deliver the cloud infrastructure that will enable Dropbox to scale beyond our current 1 billion files/day stored by 700M+ users. This role will work with Dropbox’s startegic suppliers to ensure that Dropbox has the hardware supply it needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop commodity technology roadmaps that align business requirements with industry and supplier capabilities
- Maintain knowledge of market trends including market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements and competitive landscape
- Develop and execute commodity strategies for, but not limited to, SSD, GPU DRAM, CPU, HDD, Server etc.
- Work closely with Engineering to influence technical design decisions to meet business objectives
- Lead the supplier selection process, price negotiations and contract negotiations
- Manage all aspects of new supplier on-boarding and ramp up
- Interface with Planning to assess current and future demand requirements
- Ensure continuity of supply from ramp to EOL, negotiate supply agreements as needed
- Drive supplier performance improvement through executive and/or quarterly business reviews
- Develop and sustain supplier relationships at the executive and management levels
- Work with OEM and ODM partners to ensure execution of commodity strategies
Requirements
- BA/BS in supply chain or equivalent with at least 7 years of relevant experience
- At least 5 years of commodity procurement or supply chain management experience at a major manufacturing or technology company
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain processes
- Must be able to prepare and present quantitative and qualitative comparative analysis of sourcing alternatives
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required
- Extensive knowledge and experience in purchasing field is essential
- Ability to direct contract negotiations and RFx process
- Strength in negotiations, cost/price analysis and purchasing procedures is also essential
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree MBA, MS-SCM etc
- Supply Chain or Procurement designation from ASCM, ISM, CIPS or equivalent
- Experience working and partnering with suppliers at a global scale
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure and datacenter supply chains
- 10+ years of supply chain, procurement, sourcing experience
Total Rewards
Dropbox takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location/metropolitan area, skillset, and peer compensation. We target most new hire offers between the minimum up to the middle of the range.
Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
Current Salary/OTE Ranges (Subject to change):
• US Zone 1: $174,300 - $205,000 - $235,700.
• US Zone 2: $156,800 - $184,500 - $212,200.
• US Zone 3: $139,400 - $164,000 - $188,600.
Dropbox uses the zip code of an employee’s remote work location to determine which metropolitan pay range we use. Current US Zone locations are as follows:
• US Zone 1: San Francisco metro, New York City metro, or Seattle metro
• US Zone 2: Austin (TX) metro, Chicago metro, California (outside SF metro), Colorado, Connecticut (outside NYC metro), Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York (outside NYC metro), Oregon, Pennsylvania (outside NYC or DC metro), Washington (outside Seattle metro), Washington DC metro and West Virginia (DC metro)
• US Zone 3: All other US locations
