Job Description

We are seeking an experienced professional to join us on a 12-month contract as an independent contractor. Please note, this is not an employed role — the successful candidate will be engaged via a contractor agreement and will be responsible for managing their own taxes and legal obligations as a self-employed professional.

  • Manage and support a large volume of commercial transactions that include RFPs/RFIs, NDAs, MSAs, DPAs and Vendor agreements. You will be required to partner closely with our US Sales and Success teams to manage and guide transactions and contracts through evaluation, negotiation and closure and facilitate the timely closure of business transactions while minimizing risk exposure.

  • Draft and negotiate professional services agreements, partnership and other types of commercial agreements.

  • Improve and help to maintain agreement templates, playbooks and other legal documents for your territory to help us scale globally.

  • Act as a true business partner from all functional areas, mostly for the Sales, HR, Marketing, and Engineering & Product teams based in the US, by sharing your knowledge and expertise and provide day-to-day legal support.

  • Contribute to other legal projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Law degree from an accredited law school and qualification to practice law with a demonstrated record of success as a lawyer.

  • 5+ years of commercial transaction and contract negotiation experience with emphasis in enterprise sales and/or SaaS/cloud-based offerings, privacy and intellectual property.

  • Knowledge of Data Privacy laws, particularly in the SaaS industry in order to advise our internal stakeholders and negotiate complex data processing agreements is a plus.

  • Thrives at being part of a global Legal team and at working cross-functionally.

  • Ability to work independently with little guidance, but also able to use good judgment and call out issues when needed.

  • Able to effectively deal with high-volume, rapid cycles, multiple assignments, concurrent deadlines, and changing priorities.

  • Team attitude that no job is too big or too small.

  • Pragmatic approach to handling complex legal issues, while demonstrating grace and a positive attitude under all circumstances.

  • Teamwork and the desire to support other members of the legal department is an essential characteristic.

  • Capacity to communicate in clear and concise manner.

  • Familiarity with Google Docs, Gmail, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, DocuSign and Salesforce, but we will train a person who has experience with similar tools or a willingness to learn.

  • High level of personal integrity, professionalism, intellectual curiosity, sense of humor, and willingness to grow.

  • Fluency in another European language is a plus.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
