The role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Deal Desk, Privacy, Customer Trust, and Product Legal, serving as a trusted advisor known for providing strong solutions and practical advice. What You’ll Do:
- Independently negotiate and close complex customer subscription agreements and ancillary documents such as DPAs and BAAs.
- Deliver practical and decisive legal guidance to internal business teams in support of complex deals.
- Partnering with sales teams to influence deal strategy and customer negotiations by providing insight that balances legal risk with business goals.
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional projects, such as improving our contract templates, playbooks, and processes.
- Support knowledge-sharing and mentorship across the team.
- Collaborate with other teams within the Legal department and across the company to support Datadog’s revenue acceleration and risk mitigation by being a trusted advisor, translating business needs to contractual commitments and sound legal advice.
Who You Are:
- Have 10 years of law firm and/or in-house commercial transactional experience, including at least 7 years of experience in SaaS and related technology areas such as privacy, information security, and intellectual property.
- Someone who is able to independently review and negotiate complex SaaS agreements, as well as ancillary documents including DPAs and BAAs, applying strong judgment to adapt guidance and address novel issues.
- Someone who is looking to expand their experience and skills in negotiating, communicating, and educating.
- Someone with integrity, excellent judgment, and a high degree of emotional intelligence; you are prepared to build strong collaboration channels with peers and stakeholders across the business and ready to identify pathways to success with our customers.
- The kind of partner others actively seek out for your clarity, calm under pressure, and most of all the constructive energy you bring to solving problems collaboratively.
- You take ownership of closing contracts efficiently, partnering closely with Sales to manage multiple complex negotiations under tight deadlines.
- Licensed to practice law and have earned a JD and bar admission in the U.S.
- Able to work out of our New York office.
