We are seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Senior Commercial Application Engineer (CAE) to support sales activities, drive customer engagement, and provide techno-commercial leadership to enable growth of controls product lines across the pole/region in the Control Solutions & Services (CSS) business line. This position offers those with a strong controls technical background with a passion to learn or enhance your skills in the technical and commercial skills and work with the sales, engineering, services, risk, and product teams to translate customer requirements into competitive and technically sound proposals that align with our global business objectives.
The Senior Commercial Application Engineer (CAE) provides techno-commercial leadership on core & complex commercial transactions, working in close partnership with the Sales team to drive growth of controls product lines across the pole/region. This individual leads the end-to-end proposal development process with a high degree of autonomy and accountability, orchestrating and influencing key stakeholders (sales, engineering, product line, finance, risk, execution teams, among others) to define, optimize, and implement the overall technical and commercial deal strategy. In addition, the CAE will serve as the primary technical and commercial focal point for our IET Channel at the pole level, enabling IET to effectively position, sell, and implement GE Vernova’s advanced control systems and digital solutions. The Commercial Application Engineer (CAE) reports for the Pole/Regional Commercial Operations Leader.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and influence customer specification, drawings, RFP, RFQ. Develop table of compliance (TOC).
  • Act as the deal focal point of contact, and provide application engineering guidance to customers, channel partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead the quoting process of Core and Complex Controls offerings
  • Utilize available quoting tools, models, leverage existing technical libraries & materials, system configurations/ hardware, design standards, etc... to develop tailored control system solutions.
  • Ensure accurate cost estimation including project risk management: (i) technical, (ii) execution, and (iii) commercial risks within the Inquiry to Order (ITO) process
  • Coordinate with supply chain and third-party providers to obtain quotations for extended project scope.
  • Work with sales and pricing team to develop the competitive deal winning pricing & strategy.
  • Consolidate deal financials.
  • Present deals for commercial review board (CRB) for approvals and ensure ITO process compliance, including review of terms and conditions & risk management assessment
  • Manage the tender schedule, and ensure timely internal approvals, bid submission and readiness for order booking
  • Lead the techno-commercial proposal generation.
  • Participate in customer meetings, negotiation or presentations.
  • Manage the advance release and short cycle process.
  • Own project handover from ITO (inquiry-to-order) phase to OTR (order-to-remittance) phase to execution team upon receipt of PO or contract signature.
  • Attend technical and commercial trainings
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial process, proposal templates, application guides, and best practices in area of expertise.
  • Meet/Exceed Commercial KPI’s such as: Quality, Proposal Cycle Time, On Time Delivery, etc…
  • Acts as the interface for all commercial and technical topics with IET, ensuring proactive issue identification, robust risk assessment, escalation, and resolution; leading negotiations, clarifications, and alignment on scope, terms, and execution strategy.
  • Owning IET Channel proposal forecasting and advance planning for IET-related opportunities to provide clear visibility to leadership.
  • Drive and champion standardization initiatives to streamline offerings, pricing, and execution models with IET.
  • Oversee PO intake and advance release planning to secure on-time order booking and a disciplined, clean handover to execution teams.

REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, electronic, power) with minimum 10 years’ experience in tendering/application engineering and/or field service in industrial control systems.
  • Experience in Unit Control (Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, or Aero), DCS, Generator (Excitation/Static Starters), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and Cyber
  • Effective use of Personal Computer Technologies- MS Office, quoting tools such as Salesforce, CPQ, etc.

  • Up to 30% travel required for short customer meetings and opportunity development.
