POSITION OVERVIEW
TransGrid Energy is seeking a highly analytical and market-savvy Senior Commercial Analyst to support the evaluation, pricing, and structuring of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and merchant strategies across CAISO and other North American ISOs (e.g., ERCOT, PJM, NYISO). The ideal candidate combines strong quantitative skills with deep market knowledge to support investment decisions, asset optimization, and commercial execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES
PPA Structuring & Pricing
Lead and support negotiations of specific commercial terms, ensuring consistency between financial model assumptions and the final agreed contract provisions
Perform counterparty pricing analysis, incorporating nodal basis risk, shape, and settlement terms
Develop and maintain models to evaluate long-term offtake contracts (fixed-price, indexed, hedge structures, pay-as-produced, etc.)
Market Analytics
Collaborate across business groups during the early project development to conduct site evaluation, interconnection feasibility, and nodal analysis supporting commercial strategy
Analyze forward markets, LMP trends, ancillary services, and capacity markets across CAISO, PJM, ERCOT, and NYISO
Asset Valuation
Build and maintain financial valuation models for PV, BESS, and hybrid assets to support development decisions, M&A transactions, and asset optimization initiatives across the project lifecycle
Support negotiations with utilities and financial counterparties to advance deals, build relationships, and align strategic objectives
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, economics, engineering, or a related field.
4–7+ years of experience in power markets, PPA structuring, energy trading, or utility-scale asset development
Proficiency with ISO/RTO operations (particularly CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, or NYISO)
Advanced Excel modeling: strong working knowledge of Python or R preferred
Familiarity with forward curve construction, basis risk modeling, and dispatch optimization
Experience with PV, BESS and hybrid (PV+BESS) assets a strong plus
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
·Proven analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets, perform quantitative modeling, and translate findings into actionable insights, supported by a track record of data driven decision-making
