About the Role

Apkudo is the Device Passport Platform for the connected device ecosystem. We are looking for a Brand Designer to take ownership of how our brand looks, feels, and shows up everywhere it matters—from the decks that win seven-figure enterprise deals to the design system that shapes our category leadership for years to come.

This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role with real authority: you won't manage an internal design team, but you will make the calls on brand architecture, design standards, and how creative work is used to tell our story. You will roll up your sleeves and create the work with the team. We are moving our web management to an external agency, which means your focus won't be on day-to-day digital maintenance. Instead, you will focus on elevating our visual identity, simplifying a complex platform story, and establishing how AI is used to scale our brand across the business.

This role is built for a true Creator. You are here to evolve the systems, tools, and standards that enable all employees to be brilliant storytellers.

Why This Role Matters

Our brand and our sales narrative directly influence deal velocity. Every custom pitch deck, every AI-discoverable page, and every asset our revenue team pulls off the shelf either reinforces our credibility as the platform infrastructure for the industry or chips away at it. You will build the scalable, AI-powered systems that ensure our brand consistently inspires confidence and accelerates growth without requiring you to touch every single asset personally.

What You'll Do

  • Brand System & Design Architecture: Own, elevate, and enforce the Apkudo Brand Style Guide. You will define how our visual language applies across digital, physical, and event formats, acting as the final word on design quality and coaching non-designers to become brand stewards.

  • AI-Enabled Brand Workflows: Design and build AI-powered tools (e.g., custom GPTs/Claude skills, templated generation systems) that allow non-designers to produce on-brand assets. You will pioneer how AI fits into a modern brand workflow to eliminate bottlenecks, establishing guardrails so AI-assisted output stays brand-compliant at scale.

  • High-Stakes Sales Enablement: Design premium, custom presentations for active, high-value sales opportunities. You will translate complex deal-specific narratives into persuasive decks and build a flexible library of modular components that sales teams can assemble for lower-stakes needs.

  • Solve the Presentation Parity Problem: Establish a flawless workflow and template system that holds up cleanly across both Google Slides and PowerPoint.

  • Strategic Vendor Management: Manage the relationship with our outsourced web agency. You will translate brand intent into clear briefs and review their output for strict brand fidelity, holding a high bar for quality without owning the day-to-day execution.

  • Design for a premium customer experience when visiting and touring our automation hubs, cognizant of the details and how we can continue to elevate the customer experience

  • Event design for Apkudo-hosted and industry events, both domestic and abroad

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 3+ years of brand or graphic design experience, with meaningful time scaling brand systems in a fast-paced B2B or growth-stage company.

  • AI Fluency: Hands-on, proven experience building workflows, templates, or tools using leading AI models and generative design tools. You don't just use AI to speed up your own tasks; you use it to scale design systems for others.

  • Sales Design Expertise: Proven ability to turn around high-stakes, custom sales presentations under tight deadlines.

  • Technical Mastery: Expert-level Figma and Adobe Illustrator skills; strong working knowledge of Google Slides and PowerPoint (and how to design for parity across both).

  • Vendor Leadership: Comfort managing external agencies—writing clear briefs, reviewing deliverables critically, and holding external partners accountable. Familiarity with Webflow is a strong plus.

  • Strategic Autonomy: Self-directed, comfortable with ambiguity, and possessing a portfolio that demonstrates systems-level thinking alongside polished final assets.

Tools We Use Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Google Workspace (Slides, Docs, Drive), Microsoft Office (PowerPoint), and leading AI models (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) for both creative production and internal tool-building.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing for AI-driven buyer journeys (structured content, semantic clarity), even if you won't own the site directly.

  • Familiarity with Webflow, enough to speak the same language as a web agency and review their work critically.

  • Experience in a growth-stage or scaling company, where systems are being built rather than maintained.

  • Working knowledge of HubSpot for design support and content sharing

How to Apply

Please apply with your resume and a link to your portfolio. We're especially interested in seeing examples of systems-level thinking: brand guidelines, design systems, or reusable frameworks you've built, alongside your strongest individual pieces.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
