This growth has provided a need for a Senior Bookkeeper to help deliver personal and experienced service to our vast array of clients.

The Role

As a key member of the tax team, a Senior Bookkeeper will handle monthly, quarterly, and/or annual client bookkeeping. The position will also assist in various other activities including preparing business returns, 1099s, and processing accounting transactions (AP, AR, credit card activity, employee expense reporting, etc.). This role will be achieved in a hybrid environment out of our Pasadena or Encino office locations. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly, quarterly or annual client bookkeeping.
  • Analysis of general ledger accounts and reconciliation of bank accounts, with appropriate client communication and action to resolve outstanding issues and items.
  • Processes accounting transactions including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card activity, employee expense reporting, etc.
  • Play an integral part in year-end close by evaluating and preparing required journal entries to get clients’ books and records ready for income tax preparation.
  • Prepare business returns including property tax, sales tax, payroll tax, power of attorney forms, start-up filings and any other tax forms as needed.
  • Excel spreadsheet analysis for various projects and processes.
  • Set-up and manage access to clients’ payroll through third party vendor and retrieve necessary reports to assist with income tax preparation.
  • 1099 preparation in general, getting information from the clients, TIN matching 1099 recipients before 1099’s are prepared, preparing extensions as needed.
  • Handle phone calls to clients or government agencies for information needed to complete bookkeeping/accounting per supervisor’s instructions. 
  • Prepare and review fiduciary accounting, which can include court accounting, forensic accounting, trust accounting for disclosure of trust fund for beneficiaries, etc. 

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive public accounting or accounting services experience.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and MS Office. QB ProAdvisor preferred.
  • Strong client rapport and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in accounting or business is preferred.
  • Ability to interact well with others in a team environment, as well as being able to work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be very detail-oriented and able to reconcile assets and balance to monthly statements, as some trusts have a lot of holdings and transactions.  
  • Software could include Thomson Reuters Fiduciary Accounting Software (FAS), QuickBooks, and Excel.

The pay range for this role is $35.00/hour - $45.00/hour. This role is non-exempt and eligible for overtime. This range includes the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on various factors, including experience, education, and/or skill level.
