In this role, you’ll architect and scale the systems behind global remittances, digital wallets, and decentralized financial infrastructure—leveraging blockchain technology and modern backend architecture. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams around the world to deliver secure, high-performance solutions that support our expanding user base. We leverage blockchain technology to deliver fast, secure, and low-cost financial products—including mobile-based remittances and digital asset solutions. Currently operating in 17+ countries, Telcoin is building a global platform that connects users with modern financial tools through a telecom-integrated approach.
Our team includes telecom executives, startup veterans, finance professionals, and world-class engineers. We are now looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help scale our backend infrastructure and core remittance systems.
What You’ll Be DoingDesign, build, and maintain backend systems and APIs for Telcoin’s remittance platform and digital wallet
Build and optimize high-performance microservices capable of processing 20,000+ requests per second
Interface with blockchain components, mobile apps (iOS/Android), and third-party APIs (e.g., KYC, fraud, banking systems)
Support integration of external financial systems, including banks and payment partners
Implement secure solutions to manage KYC, PII, and financial transaction data
Collaborate across engineering, product, and compliance teams globally to deliver features securely and efficiently
Maintain observability, monitoring, and support practices for production systems
5+ years of backend or systems engineering experience
Strong experience with Rust, or deep expertise in another strongly typed systems language (e.g., C++, Go)
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
Proficiency in SQL and experience working with large-scale data pipelines
Demonstrated ability to write secure, high-performance, maintainable code
Comfort operating in fast-paced, startup environments with global, distributed teams
Strong communication skills, especially across time zones
Experience with blockchain node development (e.g., Substrate) or DeFi protocols
Prior exposure to financial services, digital wallets, or remittance products
Background working with KYC/AML, compliance tools, or fraud prevention systems
Familiarity with event-driven systems, Kafka, or analytics pipelines
Competitive base salary: $100,000 - $150,000 (depending on experience) + annual bonus and stock option plan
