Manifest is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer - AI with a passion for building high-performance, intelligent systems that power modern AI-driven platforms. In this role, you’ll lead the design and scaling of backend services and data pipelines to support advanced analytics, machine learning workflows, and intelligent automation across the platform. You’ll work in a fast-paced, data-intensive environment where your contributions will have immediate and significant impact.

- Architect and implement AI-native backend infrastructure, including scalable data pipelines and intelligent services
- Partner with AI/ML teams to bring machine learning models and LLMs into production at scale
- Design resilient, high-throughput systems that enable intelligent workflows and automated decision-making
- Influence product direction and system design with a strong backend perspective on AI capabilities
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, performance, and reliability across the engineering team
As a Senior Backend Engineer - AI, you will:
- Build infrastructure that powers real-time AI applications and intelligent APIs
- Develop high-throughput systems that support AI/ML workloads and model inference pipelines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (ML engineers, product, business development) to bring intelligent features to production
- Design modular, scalable architectures that support AI system evolution over time
- Contribute to performance monitoring, testing, and reliability best practices in AI systems
- Help maintain a culture of engineering excellence, mentorship, and technical ownership
What it is essential that you will bring to the team:
- 8+ years of backend software engineering experience, preferably with AI/ML or data-intensive systems
- Proven success scaling distributed systems that support large-scale inference, data processing, or intelligent services
- Deep understanding of data pipelines, API design, and backend architecture for AI applications
- Experience collaborating with machine learning or data science teams to productize models
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly, with a focus on building systems that enable AI innovation
- Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills
Bonus but not required:
- Experience deploying or scaling LLMs, fine-tuning models, or integrating generative AI into products
- Awareness of modern tooling and platforms supporting AI/ML (e.g., LangChain, Hugging Face, Ray, etc.)
- Experience with Typescript, Python, and Go
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
