Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on AWS/Python Developer with a strong software development background. This is a developer-focused cloud role, not an infrastructure, DevOps, platform, or data-focused position.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing applications in AWS and Python, with strong backend development, cloud architecture, and system design skills. Candidates with a Java development background who transitioned to Python/AWS are highly preferred.

Location

Remote – Eastern, Central, or Mountain Time Zones only
PST and Arizona candidates are not eligible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based applications and backend services.

  • Write production-quality code in Python on a daily basis.

  • Develop and maintain AWS cloud-native applications.

  • Design and implement scalable, reliable cloud solutions.

  • Develop APIs and event-driven applications.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and cloud issues.

  • Collaborate with engineering and application teams on system design and implementation.

  • Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives.

  • Contribute to technical architecture and design decisions.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a senior software developer who has evolved from Java into Python and AWS cloud development. They should have deep application-development experience rather than primarily working in infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering, or data engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Java development experience, particularly candidates who transitioned from Java to Python/AWS

  • AWS certifications such as:

    • AWS Solutions Architect – Professional

    • AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional

  • Experience with large-scale cloud migration projects

  • Strong communication and follow-through

  • Strategic thinking and ability to make sound technical decisions

Required Skills & Experience

  • 14–15+ years of software development/cloud engineering experience preferred

  • Extensive hands-on AWS experience

  • Strong Python development experience, typically 5+ years

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS Lambda

  • Experience with AWS Step Functions

  • Strong Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) experience

  • Strong API development experience

  • Experience with Kafka

  • Strong CloudWatch experience

  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies and architecture

  • Strong system design knowledge

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Strong backend development experience

  • Ability to continue writing code hands-on in a senior/lead/architect capacity

Strong candidates typically have:

  • Extensive experience developing in the U.S. environment

  • 10+ years of U.S.-based experience preferred

  • 5+ years of hands-on Python development
