Ciklum is looking for a Senior Automation QA Engineer to join our team full-time in India.

We are a custom product engineering company that supports both multinational organizations and scaling startups to solve their most complex business challenges. With a global team of over 4,000 highly skilled developers, consultants, analysts and product owners, we engineer technology that redefines industries and shapes the way people live.

About the role:

As a Senior Automation QA Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow.

We are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to design and demonstrate an end-to-end quality engineering framework for an enterprise Microsoft Fabric data and semantic model platform.

The candidate will validate enterprise data across the Microsoft Fabric Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers), automate data quality checks, verify Power BI semantic models, and test reports and AI-powered agents.

The role requires strong expertise in test automation, data validation, SQL, and modern quality engineering practices, with hands-on experience in Playwright and TypeScript. Experience integrating automated testing into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as Claude will be highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Observability Architecture: Setting up dashboards or alerts to track data health trends, pipeline failures, and schema change impacts in real time.
  • Source-to-Target Reconciliation: Check data completeness, null values, duplicates, and business rule transformations across ingestion tiers.
  • Automated Regression Suites: Write scripts to automatically test pipelines and data outputs after every schema or code change.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Investigate discrepancies across ETL jobs, semantic models, and visual dashboards.
  • Data & Schema Integrity Testing
    • Schema Drift & Integrity: Test pipeline resilience against upstream column or data type changes, and validate primary/foreign keys, constraints, and boundary conditions across Lakehouse and Warehouse tables
    • Null & Duplicate Checks: Automate validation for unauthorized nulls, truncation, formatting anomalies, and duplicate records across Medallion layers
  • Data Observability & Monitoring
    • SLAs & Lineage: Track metrics for freshness, volume anomalies, and latency, and audit end-to-end lineage from raw sources to Power BI models
    • Alerting Frameworks: Configure automated alerts via Azure Log Analytics, Fabric monitoring hubs, or webhooks for data quality threshold failures

Requirements:

  • Platform Architecture & Scripting
    • Fabric Architecture: Utilize deep knowledge of OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, Medallion architecture, and Delta Lake formats
    • Automation & Scripting: Write SQL, T-SQL, Python, PySpark, or Spark SQL for reconciliation and regression testing using frameworks like Great Expectations or Soda
  • Pipeline & Power BI Validation
    • Error Handling: Test data movement, retry logic, failure handling, and incremental, delta, or historical load scenarios
    • Semantic Models & CI/CD: Validate report metrics, complex DAX, relationships, RLS, and integrate automated quality checks into Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Fabric Git
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Typically 5–8 years of QA or test automation experience
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience building automation frameworks rather than only executing existing test scripts
  • Ability to independently design test strategies, implement automation, troubleshoot failures, and communicate results
  • Strong collaboration skills when working with data engineering, BI, AI, and DevOps teams

What’s in it for you?

  • Strong community: Work alongside top professionals in a friendly, open-door environment
  • Growth focus: Take on large-scale projects with a global impact and expand your expertise
  • Tailored learning: Boost your skills with internal events (meetups, conferences, workshops), Udemy access, language courses, and company-paid certifications
  • Endless opportunities: Explore diverse domains through internal mobility, finding the best fit to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies
  • Care: We’ve got you covered with company-paid medical insurance, mental health support, and financial & legal consultations

About us:

At Ciklum, we are always exploring innovations, empowering each other to achieve more, and engineering solutions that matter. With us, you’ll work with cutting-edge technologies, contribute to impactful projects, and be part of a One Team culture that values collaboration and progress.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
