Senior Associate, Venue Development

The VNI (Venue and Infrastructure) team plays a critical role in delivering competition and non-competition venues that are functional, innovative, and fully accessible for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. As part of the larger Sport and Games Delivery group, the VNI team ensures that all venues are designed and developed with the highest standards for functionality, sustainability, and inclusion. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Venue Development, the Senior Associate, Venue Development, will be a critical member of the team that supports the planning, design, delivery, and operational readiness of competition and non-competition venues for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This role functions proactively, exercising sound independent judgment, while working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to support venue development to meet functional requirements, budget parameters, and delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Venue Planning & Development

  • Manage relationships with internal functional areas (FAs) to support the development of Venue Infrastructure
  • Oversee the development and delivery of venue infrastructure plans across assigned venues ensuring steps are taken to keep projects on track
  • Develop and implement strategy and resolutions to planning challenges to ensure efficient and effective venue delivery

 Operational Coordination

  • Oversee the management of external consultants, vendors, and delivery partners
  • Analyze and identify risks, issues, and mitigation strategies related to venue infrastructure delivery
  • Continuously develop and implement improved processes, tools, and systems within the Venue Development team
  • Support planning for operational readiness, including transition from planning to delivery phases

 Cross- Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with key functional areas including Sport, Event Management and Operational departments, to ensure cohesive planning and delivery of venue infrastructure
  • Oversee the development and tracking of project schedules, budgets, and key deliverables
  • Proactively participate in venue design reviews and planning processes, ensuring compliance with Games requirements and standards
  • Facilitate communication and coordination across multiple stakeholders to support project alignment and delivery
Background & Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Sports Management, Construction Management, Event Management, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
Expectations:
  • Willingness to occasionally visit venues and work on-site as needed
  • General support to the Venue Development team.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Sports Management, Construction Management, Event Management, or related field or equivalent work experience required
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • The position is based in Los Angeles office with in-person presence required. 
  • The LA28 office is an open-plan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment. 
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time sitting, standing, using computers, phones, and other office equipment, and attending in-person meetings. 
  • Ability to work extended hours during critical build milestones and Games-time preparations 

The annual base salary range for this position is $73,000.00 - $95,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
