Seeking a Senior Associate / Counsel to lead litigation, develop legal strategies, and manage complex projects in a social impact law firm.
Evergreen Legal is a social impact boutique law firm that works at the intersection of law, policy, and communications, in collaboration with its sister organization, Evergreen Strategy Group.
Evergreen Legal is seeking a Senior Associate / Counsel with experience in litigation and issue advocacy. As part of the Evergreen team, you will help craft and lead legal strategies that advance progress on some of the most pressing issues, including democracy protection.
Job responsibilities include:
- Litigation: Develop new litigation ideas and drive the day-to-day in ongoing litigation, including by communicating with clients, coordinating with co-counsel, drafting legal filings, and developing overall litigation strategy.
- Legal & Regulatory Strategy: Serve as a legal strategist across a range of issue areas. Craft legal strategies to advance policy objectives and assess legal viability of campaigns and public-facing strategies. Develop legal content such as regulatory comments, legal fact sheets, legal memorandum, and issue briefs. Review and advise on legally sensitive external communications, including public statements, campaign materials, and op-eds.
- Partner Relations & Legal Project Management: Coordinate with external partners and oversee complex projects to ensure deliverables meet the highest standards.
- Substantive Expertise: Closely follow public policy developments, political news, and industry trends. Must have demonstrated experience in mastering new issue areas quickly.
Experience and Qualifications:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar membership required.
- A minimum of four years experience ideally including a mix of law firm, government, federal clerkship, and/or nonprofit/public interest experience.
- Litigation experience strongly preferred; understanding of constitutional law and administrative law preferred but not required.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and editing skills, with a track record of producing high-quality legal documents and public-facing legal materials.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to quickly translate legal complexity for diverse audiences.
- Ability to think creatively to address complex issues.
Evergreen offers a base salary of $120,000 - $150,000 for this role, in addition to a generous bonus and commission package, along with our industry-leading 401K matching program, health plan, and PTO policy.
