About the role 

We are hiring a Senior Compliance Associate to join our Marketing Compliance team to support the exciting products and services at Chime. As a Senior Compliance Associate, you will operationalize compliance processes such as reviewing and advising on end-to-end compliance as it relates to advertising and marketing for Chime’s products, services and brand. You will team up with cross functional teams, such as legal, marketing, and product, to launch marketing campaigns in a compliant manner. You will monitor the evolving regulatory landscape and advise enhancements to existing Chime products, services, and brand to remain compliant as they continue to scale.  You’ll also collaborate with our issuing bank partners’ legal and compliance teams, to facilitate quality and innovative compliance risk management solutions. 

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $103,680 and up to $144,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Demonstrate advisory and experience with consumer laws and regulations related to the marketing and offering of consumer financial products to ensure Chime’s adherence and compliance with, but not limited to,  FTC Act §5, FTC Endorsement and Testimonial Guidelines, Unfair, Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP), the Truth In Lending Act (Regulation Z), Electronic Funds Transfer Act (Regulation E), and Truth in Savings Act (Regulation DD), as well as state-specific rules and regulations.
  • Independently operationalize day-to-day compliance responsibilities related to marketing and growth initiatives for member-facing content
  • Play a crucial role in evaluating marketing compliance, ensuring that the processes align with legal and regulatory requirements, leading to the early identification and sustainable mitigation of risk, such as UDAAP.
  • Support the compliance function in defining and achieving departmental initiatives, maintaining relevant policies and procedures, developing documentation solutions, and liaising with auditors.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create,review and train on compliance guidance and publish to shared spaces.

To thrive in this role, you have

  • 5 or more years of experience in banking, credit, payments, or deposits, or equivalent experience in marketing compliance. Fintech experience is a plus. 
  • equivalent experience in product or marketing compliance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key regulations including but not limited to: Marketing and Advertising Compliance, UDAAP, FTC compliance, TILA (Reg Z), VISA branding rules, Electronic Funds Transfers (Reg E), FCRA, various state money transmission laws and regulations.
  • Experience researching, interpreting, and applying financial services rules, regulations, and industry standards practices. 
  • Experience with regulations and industry guidelines applicable to mobile, social media, native advertising digital and traditional marketing, including the FTC Endorsement and Testimonial Guidelines and claim substantiation requirements. 
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience independently executing quality, timely compliance management system components. 
  • Ability to develop solutions and advise on  issues, with minimal oversight from your leadership team.
  • A creative mind for finding solutions that ensure the best experience for our members.
  • A desire to collaborate and have the ability to influence both your colleagues and external partners to achieve consensus on regulatory risk issues and appropriate mitigation.
