About Cardamom

The next evolution of healthcare requires flexible, agile teams to deliver high-tech, results-based solutions and support. Our team is here to help our customers tackle the initiatives and challenges on their organizational roadmap, and give clinicians, operational teams, and researchers access to the data they need to take care of their patients and improve health outcomes.

Cardamom is cultivating a multidisciplinary team of exceptional individuals with diverse skills and experiences in healthcare — data, analytics, AI, and EHR application experts. We are also passionate about growing the careers of those who may have little or no experience in these fields when the opportunity arises. Our team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, revenue cycle professionals, and certified application specialists would love for you to join us.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Application Advisor (Patient Access) – to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a senior-level contributor and co-application lead, supporting the implementation, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system.

You will operate within a collaborative, team-oriented environment, providing strategic and technical leadership while mentoring team members and ensuring high-quality service delivery to clients.

Position Overview

Cardamom is seeking an experienced Senior Application Advisor to serve on the Epic AMS Access team supporting Prelude, Cadence, Real-Time Eligibility (RTE), and Referrals.

This individual will partner closely with the team's existing App Lead, who primarily focuses on Prelude and RTE, and will take a leadership role in overseeing Cadence and Referrals. The AMS Access team consists of approximately 14 team members and serves as the client's complete application support team for these applications.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior Epic analyst who enjoys balancing hands-on application work with team leadership, mentorship, organization, and client partnership. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator who is proactive, highly organized, and comfortable helping guide both people and work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a leader for the AMS Access team, with primary leadership responsibility for Epic Cadence and Referrals.
  • Partner with the Prelude/RTE App Lead to coordinate priorities, workload, and overall team delivery across the Access portfolio.
  • Help oversee and support approximately 14 team members across Prelude, Cadence, RTE, and Referrals.
  • Provide hands-on senior-level Epic Cadence and Referrals expertise while maintaining visibility into the broader Access application landscape.
  • Support the team's Maintenance of Business (MOB) scope, including:
    • Incidents and service requests
    • Full-cycle Epic upgrade support
    • Application maintenance and optimization
    • Projects requiring fewer than 80 hours of effort
  • Help organize, prioritize, and distribute work across the team based on client needs, team capacity, and individual areas of expertise.
  • Mentor fellow team members and provide technical and professional guidance when needed.
  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, workflow concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with team members, Cardamom leadership, and client stakeholders.
  • Help ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with client expectations.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, solution design, build, testing, implementation, and ongoing support as needed.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and supportive team environment.
Qualifications
  • Active Epic Cadence certification required.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Epic Cadence, including build, maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, and upgrade support.
  • Experience with Epic Referrals strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience serving as an Application Lead, Team Lead, Architect or similar leadership role strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting an Epic application in an AMS, managed services, or ongoing production-support environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support other analysts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain visibility across a busy application team.
  • Proactive and comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting for direction.
  • Strong client-facing skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with technical and operational stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on application work.
Schedule & On-Call Expectations

Cardamom operates Monday through Friday, and team members generally work within established weekday business hours. Because this role supports an active client environment, there may occasionally be a need to work outside of preferred hours based on client needs. We do everything possible to minimize this, but some flexibility is required.

Team members also participate in an on-call rotation, which includes weekend and after-hours support. Rotation frequency is dependent on the number of team members participating in the team's on-call schedule.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who can be both a strong Epic expert and a strong team leader. This person should be comfortable stepping into a highly collaborative environment, creating organization around the work, communicating proactively, and serving as a resource for fellow analysts.

The right candidate doesn't need to simply manage tasks—they should be someone who can help lead the team, mentor others, anticipate needs, and keep work moving forward while maintaining strong relationships with the client and their Cardamom teammates.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
