We are driven to do more. More for our customers and the financial professionals who offer our products. If you are driven to do more and love the challenge of pursuing more, Athene is your kind of company. You will find we offer more than the basics to create an inclusive and dynamic work environment at our various locations.

Purpose:

Apollo/Athene's global Treasury function is a strategic partner to the business and senior leadership — optimizing the firm's balance sheet, enabling informed decision-making and firmwide growth, and overseeing platform risk and ecosystem connectivity. Treasury's COO office serves as a strategic bridge across teams, driving coherent execution, clear governance, and an increasingly AI-enabled operating model. This role focuses on working directly with the Treasury COO to support priorities spanning team culture, execution enablement, AI adoption, process and controls improvement, and data and reporting. You will translate ambiguous requests into clear, structured deliverables, coordinate across stakeholders in our key office locations, and partner with technical and business teams to move ideas from concept toward execution. You will see the direct impact of your work on how efficiently a major treasury function runs. This is an opportunity to build broad exposure across how a major treasury function operates, with direct access to the Global Treasurer, Treasury COO, and broader leadership team from day one, and room to grow into greater ownership as your scope expands.

Accountabilities:

Strategy & Stakeholder Management: Support Treasury's COO with strategic materials, agendas, and pre-reads for leadership meetings, synthesizing input into clear, decision-ready formats. Track and report on progress against Treasury's key priorities, surfacing decisions or trade-offs that need leadership attention.

Execution Enablement: Support resourcing, budget planning, and transformation initiatives, including owning the monthly refresh of Treasury's budget and transformation AI-built dashboards. Enable planning cycles and new transformation launches, including scoping and SOW coordination with external partners. Use AI tools to accelerate research, synthesis, and document production under tight deadlines, and proactively surface process improvements.

AI Adoption: Experiment with AI-assisted tools to prototype new workflows, dashboards, or interfaces, sharing what works with the broader team. Collaborate with AI champions to run AI Open Office Hours, track AI use cases, source internal and external demos, and align with Finance's and Athene's AI centers of excellence to avoid duplicative work.

Team & Culture: Coordinate internal communications, town halls, training, and recognition programs, building trust and rapport across a broad set of stakeholders.

Continuous Process & Controls Improvement: Identify and help implement process and control improvements, escalating risks and roadblocks proactively and tactfully.

Cross-Finance Connector: Represent the Treasury COO office in firm-wide Finance forums related to data, AI, budget, and team communications, ensuring alignment with broader Finance priorities at both the enterprise and local level. Support a structured roadmap of Treasury priorities and touchpoints with functional leads, peer COO teams, and other key stakeholders.

Data, Analytics & Dashboards: Organize and coordinate Treasury's data and dashboard efforts, translating the leadership requests into structured deliverables and contributing quick prototypes before handoff. Contribute ideas on how Treasury's data, reporting, and dashboard architecture should evolve as the function's needs grow.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in finance transformation, treasury operations, business analytics, human capital, management consulting, or a COO/chief-of-staff function, gained through any combination of roles or career paths, preferred
  • Working knowledge of treasury or finance concepts such as liquidity, cash forecasting, capital reporting, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous requests into clear, structured deliverables, applying strong critical thinking and building trust across stakeholders
  • Comfort coordinating across technical and business teams, with enough hands-on ability with Excel, AI-assisted tools, or no-code platforms to build a quick prototype
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and daily use of AI tools to accelerate personal or team workflows
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with basic insurance or asset management concepts and metrics
  • Experience with Kyriba, Pigment, Workday Adaptive Planning, or similar treasury or EPM platforms
  • A track record of identifying and driving process improvements without being asked
  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
  • Experience partnering with senior leadership or a COO / chief-of-staff function

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

    • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
    • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
    • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
    • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
    • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
    • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
