About us

Ruby Labs is a leading tech company that creates and operates innovative consumer products. We offer a diverse range of opportunities across the health, education, and entertainment industries. Our innovative teams are driving the future of consumer-led products, and we're always looking for passionate individuals to join us. Learn more about our story at: https://rubylabs.com/about-us/

About the role

We are looking for an exceptional Senior AI Product Manager to own the AI product direction for one of our core D2C subscription products. You will be fully responsible for the AI surface end-to-end — defining the vision, shaping the roadmap, specifying features, driving development with engineering, and owning the results in production. The product serves hundreds of thousands of customers, and AI-powered flows are the primary growth lever across a portfolio of surfaces spanning document creation, editing, conversion, and automation workflows — including underscaled surfaces with significant untapped potential.

This is a high-ownership role suited for someone who operates from vision down to shipped detail — not a backlog administrator. You will work alongside an existing product owner and take genuine end-to-end ownership: what to build, why, how it should work, and whether it worked. Ambiguity is the default; you are expected to bring clarity, ship fast, and hold a very high bar for user experience. Every significant decision here is made on data — you pull it yourself, read it correctly, and let it overrule opinion, including your own. The bar is high and so is the upside — performance here is directly and significantly rewarded, and strong operators take on bigger scope fast.

Key Responsibilities

AI Vision & Strategy
  • Own the AI product vision and roadmap — where AI creates real customer value versus where it is noise

  • Define which AI-powered flows to build, scale, or kill, grounded in usage data and business impact

  • Identify underscaled product surfaces and build the case, plan, and execution path to grow them

  • Track the AI landscape (models, tooling, competitor moves) and translate it into product advantage

Feature Definition & Delivery
  • Translate vision into clear specifications: user flows, edge cases, quality bars, and success metrics

  • Drive end-to-end delivery with engineering and design — from concept through QA to production

  • Use AI tools daily (Claude and similar) to prototype concepts that are directly considered for production

  • Own launch decisions: ship, iterate, or retire — based on data, not attachment

Experimentation & Product Quality
  • Build and run a hypothesis-driven testing pipeline across AI features — A/B tests, staged rollouts, quality evals

  • Define how AI feature quality is measured (accuracy, latency, user trust) and enforce those standards

  • Analyze user behavior in Mixpanel to find engagement gaps and conversion opportunities in AI flows

Cross-functional Leadership
  • Partner with the existing product owner to divide surface ownership cleanly and keep delivery fast

  • Work directly with the Managing Director on strategy, priorities, and business outcomes

  • Align engineering, design, and data around a single, clearly communicated product direction

Qualifications

Must-Have Experience
  • 4+ years in product management on consumer or SaaS products, with 1+ year shipping AI/LLM-powered features to production

  • Proven end-to-end ownership: took a product area from vision to shipped outcome with measurable results

  • Hands-on experience defining and evaluating AI feature quality (prompt iteration, evals, user-facing failure handling)

  • Extremely data-driven — pulls and reads own data in Mixpanel or equivalent (cohorts, funnels, A/B design and readouts); decisions are grounded in numbers, not narrative

  • AI-native personal workflow: uses Claude or similar daily for prototyping, analysis, and specification — this is how we work, not an optional extra

  • Track record of growth results on a subscription or engagement-driven product (retention, activation, or monetization)

Leadership Attributes
  • Vision-setter who still sweats the shipped detail — comfortable at both altitudes in the same week

  • Decisive under ambiguity — brings structure and clarity where none exists

  • Data over opinion — changes position when the numbers say so, and expects the same of others

  • Full accountability for outcomes — owns the miss as visibly as the win

  • Direct, fast communicator who keeps engineering unblocked and stakeholders aligned in a remote environment

  • Relentless quality bar — ships fast without shipping sloppy

Location

Ruby Labs operates within the CET (Central European Time) zone. Applicants from any country are welcome to apply for the position as long as they are located within approximately ± 4 hours of CET. This ensures optimal collaboration and communication during working hours.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
