Headquartered in New York City, Newsweek also publishes international editions in EMEA and Asia.

Newsweek is looking for a seasoned, strategic, and detail-oriented Senior Ad Operations Specialist to help elevate the execution and performance of our digital advertising campaigns. This role is key to our revenue growth and client success – responsible for campaign delivery across display, video, and programmatic channels, and actively contributing to campaign quality, pacing, and yield. As we scale, we need someone who doesn’t just execute, but thinks critically, anticipates issues, and drives solutions that improve outcomes for our advertisers and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end campaign trafficking, QA, and launch in Google Ad Manager (GAM) and SSPs
  • Perform structured QA to ensure flawless setup and minimize errors
  • Monitor campaign delivery daily, identifying and resolving pacing or performance issues proactively
  • Analyze campaign and revenue data to surface optimization opportunities and inform seller/client recommendations
  • Maintain brand safety, viewability, and user experience standards, applying targeting best practices and creative QA
  • Collaborate with Sales, Account Management, Media Planning, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure seamless execution and cross-functional alignment
  • Support campaign wrap reporting, forecasting inputs, and best-practice documentation
  • Work with third-party tools (e.g., IAS, DoubleVerify, Bombora) to ensure proper measurement, targeting, and compliance
  • Contribute to the refinement of AdOps processes and tooling to drive efficiency, automation, and scalability
  • (Optional/future) Provide mentorship to junior ad ops team members as part of our team development strategy

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of publisher-side ad operations experience
  • Deep working knowledge of Google Ad Manager, SSPs, and trafficking logic
  • Strong QA mindset with demonstrated ability to spot and fix issues before they go live
  • Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with Looker, Tableau, or similar tools a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate performance data into insights
  • Familiarity with basic HTML, JavaScript, and browser debugging tools (e.g., DevTools)
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Highly organized, accountable, and proactive in identifying risks and resolving blockers
  • Bonus: Experience with programmatic media, PMP packaging, or yield optimization initiatives

What Success Looks Like:

  • Campaigns launch on time, without errors, and pace smoothly throughout their flight
  • AdOps processes are consistent, efficient, and continuously improving
  • Team and cross-functional partners see you as a trusted, proactive problem-solver
  • You help drive stronger campaign performance, improved client satisfaction, and revenue impact

Salary: $75,000/ year commensurate with experience

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
