Position Summary
The Senior Accounting Manager will report to and support the Vice President, Finance & Accounting, Controller, in strengthening and scaling the company’s accounting function in preparation for IPO readiness. This individual will manage operational areas, including payroll and clinical trial accruals, while also leading key initiatives such as ERP implementation, audit readiness, and the development of scalable internal controls. The role will collaborate closely with global finance teams and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency across accounting practices. This is a hands-on, highly collaborative position suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is motivated to help build the financial infrastructure needed for continued growth.
Responsibilities
- Manage clinical trial accruals to ensure timely and accurate reporting of R&D expenses
- Oversee payroll accounting in collaboration with HR and payroll providers, ensuring proper recording and compliance
- Support equity-related activities such as cap table maintenance, stock issuances, equity compensation, and related reporting and analysis
- Support procure-to-pay operations, including purchase order review, invoice processing, and vendor payments
- Lead month-end close activities, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis
- Prepare book journal entries across various general ledger accounts
- Drive the implementation of a new ERP system, including testing, data migration, and process improvements
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability across accounting functions
- Oversee audit preparation, including documentation, reconciliations, and support for external auditors
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred
- 6+ years of accounting experience including at least 2 years in biotech, pharmaceutical, or a related industry
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP; familiarity with IFRS is a plus
- Experience with SEC reporting, SOX compliance, public company regulatory frameworks, and audit preparation preferred
- Highly proficient in Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and financial reporting tools
- Broad accounting experience across key functions such as payroll, month-end close, and equity
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and global finance teams
- Bilingual in English and Chinese is a plus
- Ability to travel to China is a plus
Salary Range: $130,000 to $150,000
