Senior AccountantSummary of Role

The Senior Accountant is a key team member in the company’s global accounting team, working with the Accounting Manager to establish a world-class accounting organization. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the detailed review of work prepared by the Center of Excellence (COE) team, ownership of multiple balance sheet reconciliations, and ownership of SG&A and COGS accrual processes. Beyond core close responsibilities, this role plays an active part in process improvement initiatives and in elevating the quality, clarity, and usefulness of financial reporting delivered to other departments. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, a strong critical thinker, and a collaborative team player who raises the standard of accuracy and insight across the team.

How You’ll Succeed

Perform detailed reviews of journal entries, reconciliations, and other deliverables prepared by the COE team, ensuring accuracy, completeness, proper support, and compliance with GAAP and internal policies.

Provide clear, constructive feedback to the COE team and partner with them to resolve errors at the root cause rather than only correcting them.

Own and prepare multiple balance sheet reconciliations monthly, resolving reconciling items timely and maintaining audit-ready support.

Own the SG&A and COGS accrual processes, including preparation, analysis, true-ups, and documentation of methodology and assumptions.

Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines and accounting principles.

Identify and investigate variances or discrepancies in financial records, perform fluctuation analysis, and take appropriate corrective actions.

Lead and contribute to process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline, standardize, and automate accounting workflows.

Improve reporting to other departments by enhancing the accuracy, format, and usefulness of recurring deliverables and responding to ad hoc reporting needs.

Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support internal and external audits.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and ensure its accuracy and consistency.

Manage time well to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and balance review responsibilities with individual deliverables.

What You Bring

A strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and accrual accounting (SG&A and COGS).

Demonstrated experience reviewing the work of others and providing effective feedback, ideally in a shared services or COE environment.

A track record of process improvement, streamlining financial operations, and implementing best practices.

Strong working knowledge of accounting systems and ERP platforms; NetSuite experience is a plus.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong overall Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, etc.).

Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work with numbers accurately.

Strong critical thinking skills – the ability to question results that don’t make sense, connect activity across accounts, and anticipate downstream impacts.

A team-player mindset – you build trust with the COE team and business partners, share knowledge generously, and put team outcomes first.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting concepts to non-accounting audiences.

Proven experience collaborating with stakeholders and providing accurate, decision-ready financial information.

Comfort operating in a fast-paced, results-oriented growth environment.

Self-motivation, ownership of your areas, and a willingness to drive change management.

Who You Are

Detail Oriented – You hold yourself and others to a high standard of accuracy, catching errors and inconsistencies that others miss before they become problems.

Critical Thinker – You make sense of complex, high-quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems, and you ask “does this make sense?” before signing off.

Collaborates – You build partnerships and work collaboratively with the COE team, accounting leadership, and other departments to meet shared objectives.

Financial Acumen – You interpret and apply understanding of key financial indicators to make better business decisions.

Global Perspective – You take a broad view when approaching issues, using a global lens.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
