The Senior Accountant, reporting to the Controller, will play a key role in executing and improving core accounting functions, with a focus on ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. This individual will be a crucial member of the Accounting team, contributing to the monthly close process, financial reporting, and compliance with US GAAP.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and enjoys solving problems, optimizing processes, and collaborating cross-functionally. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in SaaS accounting, especially around revenue recognition, and is eager to make an impact.

📌 Key Job Responsibilities

  • Month-End Close: Own and execute key aspects of the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analyses.

  • Revenue Recognition: Support the accurate and timely recognition of revenue in accordance with ASC 606, working closely with the FP&A and RevOps teams.

  • Bank and Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare and review monthly reconciliations for cash, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other key accounts.

  • Audit and Compliance: Assist with annual financial audits, including preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.

  • Process Improvements: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and increase automation within the close and reporting processes.

  • Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with teams across Finance, RevOps, and Product to ensure alignment between financial reporting and operational activities.

  • ERP & Systems Ownership: Leverage NetSuite and related tools (e.g., Brex, Monday) to maintain clean data and support financial operations.

  • Reporting & Analysis: Assist in the preparation of monthly internal reporting packages and provide financial insights to support decision-making.

📌 Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred.

  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a high-growth SaaS environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, with hands-on experience in accrual accounting and revenue recognition (ASC 606).

  • Proficient in NetSuite and Excel/Google Sheets; experience with other accounting and reporting tools is a plus.

  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and meeting tight deadlines with attention to detail.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Clear, concise communicator who can explain complex accounting topics to non-finance stakeholders.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
