The Accounting department for Wonderful Pistachios & Almonds is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee various aspects of the financial reporting and accounting close process, as well as preparation of various accruals and account reconciliations. This position reports directly to the Manager, Accounting and requires working with many departments and teams. This person will be a highly motivated team player with excellent written skills, communication skills, Excel skills, ability to multi-task, and remain organized in a fast-paced dynamic environment. This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual who can independently handle complex accounting tasks, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to the strategic financial goals of the organization.

This position will be based at our West Los Angeles, CA office. We work a hybrid schedule with an in-office requirement Monday-Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.

Job Description

  • Lead various aspects of accounting month-end close and financial reporting process, including creating & maintaining journal entries and analysis.
  • Responsible for conducting monthly & quarterly balance sheet reconciliations, such as prepaids, expense accruals, loan and interest activity, and bank reconciliations, with minimal oversight
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP or IFRS standards.
  • Review and analysis of all general ledger accounts for accuracy
  • Prepare inter-company reconciliations, analyze inter-company transactions and financial statements, and implement follow-up action plans to resolve reconciling items.
  • Prepare entries/billings to charge expenses to other Wonderful Pistachios & Almonds affiliates.
  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and conduct variance analysis on the prior period comparison
  • Regular collaboration and communication with finance and operational departments to ensure an understanding of business activities that will impact responsible areas of accounting
  • Develop and maintain accurate records and detailed tied-out work papers including standard working procedure for each task.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulatory requirements including Quarterly US Census
  • Proactively identifies areas and recommend strategies to enhance financial workflows .
  • Perform quarterly variance analysis
  • Oversee Finance and Accounting rotations interns.
  • Assist management with ad hoc research and analysis as well as reporting projects.
  • Assist with year-end financial and various audit requests.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of accounting experience.
  • BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • CPA and/or public accounting experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Proficient computer software and database skills.
  • Proficient with Excel, MS Word, Outlook
  • Oracle and FCCS knowledge are a plus.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential data and documentation
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and work quickly/accurately under pressure
  • Should be organized, goal oriented, energetic, team player and responsive
  • Ability to quickly, strategically, and decisively take action in fast-changing, unpredictable situations

Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
