The Opportunity

As a Senior Staff Accountant at Horizon3.ai, you’ll be more than just a numbers person — you’ll be a key contributor to building a high-performing accounting function. You’ll have the opportunity to refine and implement processes, mentor team members, and work closely with accounting leadership to ensure our books are accurate, timely, and insightful.

This role is perfect for someone who has strong technical accounting skills, thrives in fast-moving environments, and enjoys balancing day-to-day execution with process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Month-End Close – Own critical components of the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with USGAAP.

  • Order-to-Cash – Assist with the review of sales orders, preparation and issuance of customer invoices, and resolution of billing discrepancies to ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition in accordance with contract terms.

  • Procure-to-Pay – Support the internal procurement and AP processes by servicing requests, processing vendor invoices, and coordinating timely payment requests in alignment with approval workflows and internal controls.

  • General Ledger Management – Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

  • Process & Systems Improvement – Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and strengthen internal controls.

  • Audit & Compliance – Support annual financial audits and ensure ongoing compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with Finance, Sales, and Operations teams to align financial processes with business needs.

  • Mentorship – Provide guidance to junior accounting team members and help develop their technical skills.

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in SaaS or high-growth tech companies.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of USGAAP; experience with revenue recognition; proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies, analyze trends, and make process recommendations.

  • Ownership Mentality: Proactive, accountable, and able to work with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaboration and Drive: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.

In accordance with various State’s transparency regulations, we provide the following salary range information for this position:

  • Base salary range: $109,000 - $180,000. The exact salary will be determined based on the selected candidate’s location, qualifications, experience, and relevant skills.

  • Additional compensation: This role may also be eligible for an equity package (in the form of stock options). If any other compensation benefits apply, they will be discussed during the interview process.
